A message from our CEO
Hello, and welcome back to our newsletter!

We’ve been busy at Habitat Heartland over the last few months adjusting to the new normal. Since mid-March when the COVID-19 pandemic began, Habitat Heartland has been focused on helping our community and keeping our build projects moving forward.  We have continued to put the health and safety of our staff, customers, and community members as our top priority. We collaborated with our community partners to donate over 3,500 units of PPE to hospitals and care homes, 1,300 backpacks filled with school supplies to children in need, and 4,750 bags of dog food to animal shelters and dog food banks
Our Habitat ReStores launched online shopping at four locations, and re-opened all seven ReStore locations to the public following provincial guidelines. We are happy to continue providing the option to shop online or in-store for all of your summer project needs! Volunteers are the backbone of our operations, and we are delighted to safely welcome some of them back to our construction sites and ReStores. Thank you volunteers for your patience and continued commitment to Habitat Heartland. Construction has begun on four single-family homes in partnership with the Munsee-Delaware Nation community. Habitat Heartland is proud to be building safe and decent homes for Indigenous families on Traditional Munsee-Delaware Territory.

The past few months have brought about a lot of change in our world, but one thing that hasn’t changed is our dedication to making sure everyone in our community has a safe and decent place to live. Your support allows us to continue our work without interruption.  Thank you, and stay well!

Habitat International lobbying for adequate housing for all amid COVID-19 pandemic
As United Nations member states hold their annual meeting in July to discuss the Sustainable Development Goals, Habitat for Humanity is calling on world leaders to assure COVID-19 does not derail progress toward the goal of assuring adequate housing for all by 2030

“Stay at home, save lives” has emerged as a mantra in the fight against COVID-19, underscoring how central the home is to public health. Yet even prior to the pandemic, an estimated 1.6 billion people already lived without adequate shelter
