Feature Family - Lindsie's Family

Lindsie and her children Mariah, Leah, and Noah became Habitat homeowners on Forbes Street in October 2019. Their home was our 2019 London Community Build, constructed by corporate-sponsored volunteers from the community.

Lindsie's family is all settled into their new home now and looking forward to the future. "This opportunity means a new beginning and prosperous future for my family," Lindsie says. "Our Habitat home is a place where my family can build memories, stability, and pride."

2020 Habitat Heartland AGM Volunteer Awards
Habitat Canada Award: Victor & Gayle Fairthorne
Victor and Gayle Fairthorne are a husband-and-wife team who have volunteered at our Stratford ReStore since 2018. Victor supports the recycling program, helping to divert metal waste from our landfills by ensuring it is responsibly recycled. He also re-purposes scrap metal into art for selling in the ReStores. Gayle supports our customer service, and her friendliness and helpfulness are always valued by the staff and other volunteers. Their decision to incorporate Habitat into their family life and contribute their time through the challenges that COVID-19 presents displays what kind of caring people they are. Thank you, Victor and Gayle, and congratulations on the Habitat Canada Volunteer Award!
Golden Hammer Award: Devin Box & Zach Hunter
The Habitat Golden Hammer recognizes individuals who exemplify our vision and mission. Recipients have demonstrated their belief in the organization's mission by providing ongoing support and assistance sustaining Habitat for Humanity’s growth. We are pleased to announce that this year’s Golden Hammer goes to Zach Hunter and Devin Box to recognize their extraordinary work with Habitat for Humanity Heartland Ontario. Zach and Devin are students at Western University who volunteer their time to help produce and film videos that we use for our volunteer training, recruitment, and more. Congratulations, Zack and Devin, and thank you for your continued support!
Thank you to all of our dedicated Habitat volunteers!

Habitat for Humanity's first 3D printed home in US!
Last month, we featured a story about a 600-square-foot 3D printed home in India, built with technology that was funded in part by Habitat for Humanity. This exciting emerging technology is now being used by Habitat's close to home. In early June, it was announced by Habitat for Humanity Central Arizona that they are building the first 3D printed Habitat for Humanity home in the United States.

The custom, single-story home, is currently under construction on a lot owned by the City of Tempe. The project combines 3D printing and traditional construction to create an innovative model for the future: a scalable, cost-effective homeownership solution to address the affordable housing crisis facing communities nationwide.

Build strength, stability and self-reliance through affordable homeownership for a local family today,
like Teagan's family!
