Looking Ahead: 2025/2026 at Hillcrest

Thank you for choosing to send your children to a Christian school. I have great love and respect for parents who make it their top priority for their children to grow up to love the Lord, especially with the challenges here in California. HCS is thrilled to partner with young Christian families to provide excellent covenantal Christian education at an affordable price.

We anticipate two key events to strengthen our school this year. First, construction will start as we dramatically improve our campus with a new gymnasium/auditorium, car lanes, and parking lots. Second, we will join together with Bethany Bible Church to strengthen our school through church shepherding, parental rights, religious freedom, promotion, and support.

There will be several opportunities for Bethany Christian School and Hillcrest Christian School families, students, and staff to come together and learn about each other during this upcoming year. To start, HCS leadership will observe several days on the BCS Campus to learn more about BCS culture. BCS students are invited to the HCS Epic obstacle course, and BCS families are invited to the HCS Fun Run, HCS First Responders’ Chapel, and Backyard BBQ event. HCS will also host a special Open House for Bethany families in October.

We are excited about the year ahead. We believe the upcoming transition will strengthen Christian education in the Conejo Valley. As church and school remain firm in our Biblical beliefs, we will stand out more and more from California culture as the culture increasingly veers away from Biblical truth.

In Him,

Praise Report: Major Financial Milestone for Hillcrest

We have some great news! HCS was able to refinance the note on our property recently and moved from an interest-only bond payment to a conventional loan that pays principal and interest. We also got a reasonable rate that saves the school thousands of dollars each month from what we budgeted for the loan. It helped that we have kept our annual budget in the black for each of the past three fiscal years, and demonstrated improving financial strength. Additionally, the property was appraised at $26M, a nice bump from the $19M acquisition price in 2019. We will continue to improve the campus and anticipate dramatic growth in value once the gym is completed. Praise the Lord, and thanks to our School Board for their expertise in this matter.
