The Liberty Bird Alliance is a chapter of the National Audubon Society that serves members and friends throughout Philadelphia and major portions of Montgomery County

New Board Elected

The election of Officers and Board members for fiscal year 2026 – 2027 was completed on June 12^th. The nominations of the Officers and Board members were approved unanimously. 

We would like to express our sincere thanks to Katherine Falso, whose finished her second term on the Board on June 30^th. Katherine has volunteered for the chapter for many years and will continue to help with our Education and Outreach activities.

We are also delighted to welcome two new members to the Board:

• Anthony Zaccagni, who is a wildlife biologist who is currently teaching at Fox Chase Farm and is their Outreach Coordinator and Community Engagement specialist.
• Matthew Hartwell, who is a teacher in the Abington School District, currently teaching Biology and Environmental Science, and is the faculty sponsor of the Abington High School Bird Club

Climate Watch – Summer Session

We just completed the summer session of Climate Watch. We have participated in this community science project of the National Audubon Society since its inception. The latest issue of the Audubon Magazine highlights this program:

We are proud to have played our part in this national effort to understand how birds ranges are changing in reaction to the rise in temperatures.

Volunteer Appreciation Event

On June 18^th, we held a volunteer appreciation event at The Highlands. This is our first such event and we expect to hold a similar event every year. Our mission cannot be accomplished without the dedicated efforts of our volunteers. We remain eternally grateful for their engagement and involvement in our activities.
