A Farewell and a Welcome
We wish Tori Anderson a bittersweet farewell as she moves on to a new opportunity this month. As the Wellness Program Coordinator for three and a half years, Tori built our Persimmon Wellness Program from the ground up, and leaves a legacy of passion and dedication to the health and wellness of the children at Persimmon Early Learning. We are sad to see Tori go, but are excited for her next steps and wish her all the best in her new opportunity!

Persimmon teacher Grace Linnabary joined the YWCA in January and will be replacing Tori as our new Wellness Program Coordinator. Grace brings a rich array of early childhood education and nutrition skills to the position, and we look forward to seeing her continue to grow this important program in the future.

Did you know?
Seneca Falls Convention

On July 19, 1848, the Seneca Falls Convention brought an estimated 300 white men and women together over two days in Seneca Falls, New York at what became known as the first American women's right convention. Elizabeth Cady Stanton and her husband Henry B. Stanton were active abolitionists and many people working in the anti-slavery movement would later become a part of the fight for women's rights.

Unfortunately, no black women were invited to the convention and none attended. The convention advocated for the right of white women to vote. It is important to remember that the women's suffrage movement, including Elizabeth Cady Stanton and Susan B. Anthony, were fighting to ensure that white women received the right to vote before Black men received the right to vote. The only African American to attend Seneca Falls was abolitionist Frederick Douglass. Learn more here.
