This month, we're sharing our favorite picture books we absolutely love! ๐Ÿ’› Check them out at the library!

We Found a Hat

by Jon Klassen

Recommended by MICHAEL

Like That Eleanor

by Lee Wind

"A charming new picture book about a young girl trying to live up to her namesake, Eleanor Roosevelt. With a touch of history, this story about standing up for your friends is sure to give parents and children plenty to talk about."

Recommended by KATE

Rules of Summer

by Shaun Tan

"Imagery can be a little dark but nothing too intense. Kind of reminds me of when I was a kid and consistently got myself into trouble (and my brother... unfortunately for him). And then getting out of it alright and surviving for another summer. Also really pretty."

Library Lion

by Michelle Knudsen

Recommended by NOAH

Our Subway Baby

by Peter Mercurio

"True story about infant found abandoned in the NYC subway and then adopted by a couple who raised him. At the end there is a photo of the now twenty-something young man and the couple. Very moving!!"

The Urban Owls

by Christian Cooper

"About an owl famously "released" from the NYC zoo, Flaco, who lived all about the city to much delight for about a year as well as a few other urban-owl stories. Bonus: we have the adult "anf" book about Flaco the owl (The Book of Flaco) as well as Cooper's memoir (Better Living Through Birding) about his Central Park nightmare and his life as a birder!"

Recommended by CAROLYN

Mr. S

by Monica Arnaldo

The Crayon Stub

by Marcus Cutler

"I like these books because along with what is being read on the page, there is a completely different story going on through the illustrations in the book. It draws kids in and they try to guess the outcome based on the hidden story throughout. They also happen to be super funny reads!"

Recommended by ABBY

Moth: An Evolution Story

by Isabel Thomas

"Beyond its beautiful artwork and powerful messaging on resilience and the effects of human intervention on nature, this book marked a meaningful turn in my grad school career. I had an assignment to employ storytime strategies with my choice of a picture book, and I chose this one I had never heard of. It remains a book I will recommend to all ages of appreciators of art and nature! ๐Ÿ˜Š"
