Back in June, North Kansas City Mayor Bryant DeLong announced that they would temporarily be changing the name of Swift Street to "Swift Street (Taylor's Version), as well as adding an honorary Cornelia Street sign - in recognition of one of her more popular songs - making the corner of Swift & Armour, a Swiftie's wildest dream. Not only did this bring tons of excitement and joy to the community, but the local business owners utilized it in their own marketing. Post Coffee had Swift-inspired specialty drinks and 3 And Me Boutique offered a 13% discount in honor of Taylor's lucky number 13. The Iron District also had a "Swiftie Pre-Party" which included live entertainment from Chloe Rose, singing a variety of Taylor Swift covers, a Taylor's Tiki menu at Tiki Huna, "stations" to make Friendship Bracelets and DJ KAY-FAN finishing the night with a Swiftie Mash-up. By the end of the Eras Tour weekend, hundreds of Swifties made their way to NKC to join in on the fun. They shopped, drank, and lined up to get their pictures taken and make TikTok videos in front of the Swift Street (Taylor's Version) & Honorary Cornelia Street signs. It's been reported that this concert alone, had a larger economic impact on the metro than the 2023 NFL Draft back in April, and we appreciate the City Hall Swiftie Committee for making this happen for North Kansas City with their fun and creative thinking!

A Message from Police Chief Kevin Freeman...
On July 19th, 2022, the City of North Kansas City and the North Kansas City Police Department suffered a tragedy where Officer Daniel Vasquez was killed in the line of duty while protecting and serving the community of North Kansas City.
In the wake of Officer Vasquez's death, the community of North Kansas City has shown an overwhelming amount of support in various ways. One such offer was from WSKF Architects, who offered to help design an appropriate memorial, should the city desire.
Over the past several months, members of the North Kansas City Police Department, Fire Department, and city staff, have been working with WSKF Architects to design a Public Safety Memorial that will be built near City Hall. This memorial will honor the sacrifices of the members of both the Police & Fire departments that have paid the ultimate sacrifice of their lives to the City of North Kansas City.
As this project is finishing the design phase and moving into construction, there have been inquiries from North Kansas City-based companies, offering to help with the project, either through donations of labor, materials, or both. If you are interested in helping with this project, please contact Rick Kuhl at WSKF Architects or Chief Freeman!
