Back-Brushing Stain Technique For Log Homes
What exactly is “back-brushing” and why is it so important? Back-brushing is the term used to describe the process of working the finish into the wood and obtaining an intact, uniform film over the entire surface. Typically used when applying stain with an airless sprayer; however, back-brushing is just as important if the product is manually applied with a brush.
Re-staining Over Oil-Based Stained Homes
We often get asked if it is acceptable to apply our Lifeline finish systems over an existing oil-based or petroleum stain. It would be nice if there was a simple yes or no answer to this question, but there is not. It depends on a number of factors, including how many coats have been applied, how long the stain has been on the walls, and which oil-based or petroleum stain is present on the wood surface. In general, it is ALWAYS best to remove an existing competitive finish before applying a Lifeline finish.
Money Matters: Why a High-Quality Wood Finish Saves Money and Time
A simple comparison of the cost of a gallon of wood stain is a mistake because all stains differ in their lifespan, coverage rate and quality of appearance and protection.

Whether you're currently building your dream log home or simply checking off tasks on your annual home-maintenance "to-do" list, we're always looking for ways to lower expenses around the house.
Why Do I Need A Topcoat?
Just as clear coats are vital to the performance of today's automotive finishes our Advance Topcoats are an integral part of all of our exterior finish systems.

Not only do they extend the life of the color coats but they do much more. They significantly improve the look of the finish by enhancing the color, clarity and depth of the finish. In other words, they make our finishes the most beautiful log home finishes in the world. Second, they help keep the surface clean. The very nature of a pigmented stain makes it susceptible to dirt pick-up through adhesion or impregnation.
