The Natick Center Cultural District is pleased to announce that this year's ArtWalk will be a part of a week long celebration of Summer Fun in Natick! Stay tuned to the NCA website for a full calendar of events! More than 50 area artists will open their studios and share their work with the public during the Art Walk festival in Natick Center on Thursday, July 17 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Painters, photographers, potters, quilters, jewelry-makers and mixed media artists will show and sell their work in several easily-accessible locations: Main Street, Washington Street, South Main Street, Pond Street, Court Street, Summer Street, Adams Street, and South Avenue. New this year - Washington Street will be closed for outdoor dining and live music! In case of inclement weather, Art Walk will be rescheduled to the next week on Thursday, July 24 from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. During the celebration, visitors can enjoy live music and dancing, face painting, restaurant week specials, and light refreshments while viewing a fabulous range of arts and crafts made by local artists. Natick Center Cultural District Updates
We would like to thank Susan Nicholl and the MetroWest Visitors Bureau for awarding the Cultural District with a $10,000 grant! The funds will be used to help: promote the Art Walk and Restaurant Week, build a new website, and develop a 5-year Cultural District strategic plan. The Strategic Planning Committee has already finished phase 1 of its strategic planning process and the Public Art Committee is in the process of creating a mural on the back of the Natick Common bus stop! Stay tuned to the Natick Center Cultural District Facebook page on the progress of these initiatives!
Congratulations TCAN!
The Massachusetts Cultural Facilities Fund (CFF) announced that The Center For Arts in Natick will be among it's 2014 grant recipients! TCAN has received a grant of $180,000 to renovate the second floor of the historic firehouse. This grant will enable TCAN to expand its programming and present films for the MetroWest community to enjoy. TCAN's renovation project calls for construction of a digital screening room, creating the first art house cinema in the MetroWest region. Features of the project will include professional audio and stage lighting systems, digital projection equipment, a retractable screen and a portable stage. The original wood trusses supporting the high ceiling will be retained to preserved the aesthetic nature of the space. The project will also provide space for expanded education offerings, acoustic music performances, and public/private community functions.
