How to Help Members with IMRF Forms | |
Sometimes members may ask you to provide them with an IMRF form if they can't find it or haven't signed up for Member Access.
Since each form is now created with a specific barcode for each member, how you can help an employee get the forms they need has changed.
Learn more about the ways you can help your employees access the forms they need here.
Finally, if employees have a question about the timeline for applying for benefits, they can find more information here.

| | | Don’t Forget These Important Steps When Terminating an Employee | | When a member stops working for an IMRF employer, it is important to report the termination and provide the number of unused and unpaid sick days the employee has when they leave. | |
It is best practice to report an employee’s termination on the day they are no longer eligible for IMRF benefits. When you report their termination in Employer Access, be sure to include their unused and unpaid sick days, which can increase their total service credit.
Submitting termination information is also important because the employee may be applying for retirement or other benefits, which cannot be processed until the employer completes this step.
If the employee submits a benefit claim PRIOR to the employer submitting this data collection, then you will receive a “Member Event” request in Employer Access. The Member Event for termination information will need to be completed before the employee’s benefit can be processed.

Finally, when submitting the final wage report for the terminated employee, be sure to change the final wage indicator from “No” to “Yes.” If the termination is reported AFTER the employee’s final wages were reported, then the employer should complete a Wage Adjustment data collection to update the Final Wage field to "Yes."
