June 2021
Jump Into Summer With Adaptive Recreation!

Summer is here and we are increasing our virtual programs!
In addition, small in person programming will be back in late July!
Information will be sent out in mid-June on how to register.
Be sure you have completed the NEW liability form, which is required in order to attend!
We hired some new staff to assist with programming this summer. They will be taking over some of our current programs and also offering new ones! Be sure to welcome them!
Hello! My name is Christina, and I am a second-year doctoral student at the University of Virginia, studying Kinesiology. Before this program I was an adapted physical education teacher, teaching grades K-12. I am so excited to work with Charlottesville Parks and Recreation this summer to step away from the books and my desk to have some fun! I really enjoy being active and being outside listening to music. I recently joined a yoga studio and absolutely love the classes. I am really looking forward to meeting everyone and participating in some fun activities this summer!
Hello everyone! My name is Gina, and I am super excited to meet you all. I am going into my 3rd year at the University of Virginia. I am a double major, studying Public Policy & Leadership and Youth & Social Innovation, so I am specifically interested in education policy! In my free time, I really enjoy watching TV shows and movies, such as Parks and Rec, The Office, New Girl, That 70s Show, Hunter x Hunter, One Piece, Studio Ghibli movies (like My Neighbor Totoro!), and Harry Potter. I also really enjoy reading books, working out, going on walks, cooking, and playing fun games with friends. This summer I am looking forward to watching more shows/movies, reading more books, going on hikes, eating good food, and most of all… being a part of this group!
Hi everyone! My name is Neeve, and I am from Alexandria, Virginia. I just finished my second year at UVA, majoring in Kinesiology and minoring in Art History and Global Sustainability. After college, my dream is to go PT school and become an Adaptive Physical Therapist! Some of my favorite things to do are hiking, traveling and exploring museums! This summer, I am excited for warm weather, sunshine, and most of all, the opportunity to get to know all of you!
