Now through Nov. 12th we're asking you to take part in a campaign that honors Veterans by raising awareness and support for the roughly 250,000 service members who exit the military each year and transition back to civilian life.

It’s called ‘Operation Green Light’ and it involves changing just one light bulb in the entryway of your house or business to a green bulb.

“This is to show our Veterans that we see them, and to bring the conversation that there are resources here in our county for our Veterans as we approach Veterans Day,” Madison County Commissioner Violet Edwards said.

Join us in letting Veterans know that they are seen, appreciated, & supported by shining your green light.
The 5th Annual BBB&B Event is a Direct Hit!
THANK YOU for making the 5th Annual BBB&B [Bullets, Bourbon, Barbecue, & Beretta] event a huge success. Together we raised over $156,000 and because we had so few expenses (thanks to the incredible generosity of King B Farm, Beretta, and the In-Kind donors), over 92% of the funds raised will directly impact Veterans, Military, First Responders, and their Families through the nonprofit work of Still Serving Veterans & Gold Star Teen Adventures.

On Oct. 14th, about 200 participants and volunteers joined the Huntsville SOF Network for the day at beautiful King B Farm in Ardmore, TN. We gathered together to shoot Beretta USA’s premium firearms (including handguns, shotguns, and rifles), attend the VIP lunch with guest speaker Eric Maddox, and then wrapped up the day listening to Jason Guyton's inspirational Veteran journey and swapping stories about our adventurous day over a barbecue dinner with beer, bourbon, and a cigar.

"This event has grown from a group of Huntsville SOF Network members having fun at King B Farm to an eagerly anticipated major annual fundraiser! This year's Maker's Mark Bourbon Tasting and "over-the-top" silent auction items curated by Wes Williams were fantastic additions. It was a pleasure to work with the many generous donors and volunteers who made BBBB 2022 our best ever!" - Debbie Joyner, CFRE, CDO

Finding ‘Your’ Success After Transition - Steve's Story
Steve served for 6 years, 4 years in the US Air Force and 2 in the Air Force Reserves. When he left the military in 2002, he felt lost in unfamiliar territory. He was discouraged from applying for disability benefits and not sure how to get assistance for additional education. The Montgomery GI Bill helped to cover some basic living expenses, but he was still having to take out student loans for the rest of his educational expenses. Transitioning was harder than he had expected and Steve missed the personal support structure he had found in the military.
Eventually Steve found his way to SSV's Huntsville office where we provided guidance on employment, VA claims, and the continuing education opportunities he was eligible to receive as a Veteran. Now he has been appropriately assessed by the VA for a rating and has gained full-time employment as the Unmanned Aircraft System Aviation Safety Officer for The University of Alabama in Huntsville.

But, Steve’s success story doesn’t end there. He also received support from SSV and other Veteran friends in starting his own business. He is now the owner of Tint World (Huntsville, AL location.) Steve had always wanted to own his own business, but providing window tinting services was a little outside of his Aviation comfort zone. He did his research on the franchise as well as the local market and began developing the business in 2021. SSV assisted Steve with leads on Veteran employees, business resources, industry contacts and advised him on small business development.
“Getting involved with Still Serving Veterans has been a huge relief. SSV had resources available, people that seem to care and help, and an opportunity to connect with folks that had similar career experiences.” - Steven, US Air Force Veteran

Congratulations to Steve for finding success in your civilian life after transition!
