From Upcoming Events to our HSC Staff Pick of the Month,
Shelter Happenings  is for YOU!

Thumbelina is a gentle giant. Despite her size, she is pretty easy to walk on a leash and knows how to sit on command. Thumbelina goes potty outside on walks which suggests that she is partially house trained. Thumbelina has shown some handling sensitivities with our veterinary staff, so she might not like being hugged or embraced.  If you're interested in adopting Thumbelina, come visit her at our main shelter!

Spring has Sprung!
Homeless puppies and kittens in and around Charlotte are waiting to be loved. And they're hoping you will help them.

Your support has never been more important than it is right now. That's because spring has sprung - bringing many more litters of homeless kittens and puppies who need to be rescued, cared for and adopted. It costs us around $100 to get one pet ready for adoption. Multiply that by the more than 3,000 adoptions we hope to complete this year and you can see why contributions from neighbors like you are so important. Click below to donate today!
Come Volunteer with HSC!

Is your organization interested in volunteering as a group at the Humane Society of Charlotte? You can help us with a variety of tasks including kennel cleaning, fence building, and so much more. Group volunteering is a great team-building activity and is extremely rewarding!

Fostering 101: It's Kitten Season

Community Cats Project

During the month of March, 78 cats were spayed & neutered through the Community Cats program!

In March, local credit union, Carolinas Telco Federal Credit Union reached out to us asking for assistance. The company welcomed the cats, but wanted to control the colony's growth and prevent one cat's tendency to hang by the front door. Over the course of a week, we trapped, neutered and released over a dozen cats in the colony and installed a sonic deterrent to encourage the front door cat to find a new hang-out spot.

If you are feeding outdoor cats, please consider taking advantage of our Trap-Neuter-Release program and having the cats spayed/neutered. Small populations can grow to an unmanageable size. The Humane Society of Charlotte has traps available for the community to borrow at our Charlotte location.

I f you're interested in volunteering, have questions, or want to know more about trapping cats in your neighborhood, please contact  our Community Cat Coordinator for more details at  704-494-7717 or  communitycats@humanecharlotte.org
