Moments Worth Celebrating

An Evening of Warrange™: Celebrating a Community Builder

On May 19, the Hellenic Event Centre came alive in fifty shades of orange as more than 150 friends, colleagues, and community leaders gathered for An Evening of Warrange™, a tribute to Warren Creates, immigration lawyer, dragon boat festival co-founder, and connector of people.

KoW Connected's Karen Wood was part of the organizing committee that brought the evening to life, with our team creating the graphics, website, and social media content capturing the spirit, style, and playful energy of the evening.

The night was part heartfelt tribute and part good-natured roast, featuring African dancers, a live portrait auction, including a 55-pound sailing trophy flown in from England, and proceeds supporting both the Ottawa Dragon Boat Festival Foundation and the Can-Go Afar Foundation.

These are the moments we love most: people coming together, celebrating one another, and rallying behind causes that matter.

The Snowsuit Fund Smile Cookie Cheque Presentation: A Record-Breaking Moment

On June 2, Tim Hortons Ottawa owners gathered to present The Snowsuit Fund with a cheque for $344,000, a record-breaking result from the 2026 Smile Cookie campaign and enough to purchase more than 6,800 brand-new snowsuits for Ottawa children in need. KoW Connected was proud to support this milestone moment.

This year's result is especially meaningful given the growing need in our community. During the 2025-2026 season, The Snowsuit Fund distributed more than 21,000 snowsuits to over 9,000 families, surpassing last year's record and well exceeding the charity's historical annual average.

Give Back with Bruyère Health This Spring

We were delighted to attend Blossoms for Bruyère, a beautiful evening that brought together community members, supporters, and partners in support of compassionate care and healthcare excellence in Ottawa. It was inspiring to see so many people gathered around a cause that touches countless lives across our community.

The celebration isn't over yet. You can still bid on an exclusive VIP Bluesfest experience for eight on July 18 before the silent auction closes on June 26.

The momentum continues this Saturday with Music for Memory, a high-energy evening featuring The RACKET, ONS Dance Band, and Small Town Socials in support of Bruyère Health Foundation's dementia research.

Don't Miss the Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival

June is National Indigenous History Month, a time to honour the rich histories, diverse cultures, and outstanding contributions of First Nations, Inuit, and Métis Peoples across Canada. Throughout the month, Ottawa comes alive with

city-wide programming offering opportunities for learning, connection, and celebration.

The Summer Solstice Indigenous Festival returns June 20-21, a wonderful opportunity to gather with family and friends for a weekend of cultural performances, traditional knowledge sharing, and community celebrations right here in Ottawa.

KoW in the Community

One of the best parts of what we do is showing up for the people and organizations making a difference. Here's a look at a few events that brought our community together this month.

Kiwanis Feeds Kids

On May 20, the KoW team attended Kiwanis Feeds Kids, a wonderful evening that brought Ottawa's food community together for a cause close to our hearts, making sure kids in our city don't go hungry. A huge thank you to the Kiwanis Club of Ottawa and everyone who made the evening so special.

KoW at Ottawa Tourism's Annual General Meeting

On June 1, Ottawa Tourism held its Annual General Meeting at the Ottawa Marriott Hotel, bringing together members and partners from across the visitor economy to reflect on the past year and look ahead to a promising summer season. The KoW team was treated to sweeping panoramic views of Parliament Hill, the Ottawa River, and the downtown Ottawa skyline on a sunny day, a perfect reminder of just how special this city is.

The Power of 100 Women+ Who Care

On June 1, The Snowsuit Fund was invited to speak at 100 Women+ Who Care Ottawa, a powerful network of women who collectively donate to local charities at every gathering, making a real and immediate difference in the community. Joanne Andrews took the stage to share the impact that this incredible network has had on The Snowsuit Fund.

Perley Health Foundation Annual Donor Reception and Strawberry Social

There was no shortage of smiles at the Perley Health Foundation's Annual Donor Reception and Strawberry Social, which brought together donors, volunteers, and community leaders in celebration of Seniors Month.

The gathering highlighted the power of community support. In 2025, the Foundation contributed more than $2 million to programs and initiatives that enrich the lives of Veterans and seniors, including Canada's first fully integrated intergenerational child care centre and the Centre of Excellence in

Frailty-Informed Care.

We're continually inspired by Perley Health's innovative approach to care and its commitment to helping seniors age and live well.
