Saying goodbye to a wonderful teammate
This summer, we’ll say goodbye to Canopy’s Development Director, Maika Horjus, as she and her family prepare to move to Oregon. Maika has been with Canopy for more than 5 years and has contributed much
to furthering our mission and growing Canopy to where it is today.
“I feel incredibly lucky to have worked alongside the passionate staff, board, volunteers, and community members that make up the Canopy team. Their creativity and warmth inspire me daily! Canopy’s impact continues to grow because of their dedication, and I’m excited for that wonderful work to continue.” - Maika Horjus
Looking to hire our next amazing colleague
Canopy is now on the lookout for a new development professional to lead the organization’s fundraising efforts and cultivate meaningful partnerships with Canopy’s generous individual and institutional supporters.
Please help us spread the word! We encourage Canopy friends to share the
job announcement
with folks in their network—especially anyone who loves people and loves trees!

Partnership Event: Pacific Art League “First Friday” Exhibit Opening
Calling all artists! The
Pacific Art League
(PAL), a cornerstone of Palo Alto’s vibrant arts community, is accepting submissions for several upcoming exhibits.
Canopy is honored to be a featured partner for PAL's July Exhibit, “The Great American West - Land, City, Seascapes” which will showcase art inspired by the Western United States, from the Grand Canyon, to Yosemite, through the streets of San Francisco. Trees play a key role in creating a sense of place in our landscapes and cities, and this is a great opportunity to submit your tree-themed artwork of any medium.
Submissions are due by Thursday, June 14.
The exhibit will open during PAL’s “First Friday” celebration on July 6, and remain open throughout the month.

Do you share Canopy’s vision of a
vibrant urban forest for all?

Please consider a gift of support today!
|
Canopy’s work is possible thanks to generous partners and community members who share our commitment to healthy, equitable, and tree-filled communities.
As we approach the end of our fiscal year on June 30, we’re just $7,000 short of our annual fundraising goal. If you’re able to chip in to get us across the finish line, your gift will be so appreciated!
By donating today, you’ll join forces with dedicated volunteers, grassroot partners, civic leaders, school families, and Midpeninsula residents all working together to create healthy communities where people and nature thrive.

|
Many thanks to everyone who supports Canopy’s work throughout the year.
Your partnership makes all the difference!

Our gratitude to Emerson “Cool Block” neighbors
|
A special “thank you” to the neighbors of the 1100 Block of Emerson Street in Palo Alto, who joined forces to donate 13 Canopy Tree Gifts!
These generous neighbors are part of the “
Cool Block
” pilot in Palo Alto, a program that brings neighbors together to become more planet-friendly, disaster resilient, and community rich. As part of the program, 7 families held a joint garage sale, with each family donating part of their proceeds to help Canopy plant trees.
We’re inspired by this team’s example of community-based action, and so grateful for their investment in our local urban forests!
