Spring is in full swing. Flowers are blooming, butterflies are emerging from their cocoons and the grass is greener than it’s been in a very long time. Are you feeling the same kind of growth on the inside? Between winter storms and COVID, many of us are still in “winter” mode. We are feeling sheltered and closed off and unmotivated to bloom. Would you like to change that? Here are some things we can do (me included) to feel the new life of spring.
Get outside and smell the fresh air. Take a walk, even if it is a short one, and just smell the freshness of spring and all the blooming flowers. It’s amazing how good you can feel, even if it is muggy out or cloudy, just by putting a little color in your yard and spending a little time outside.
Pick up a new hobby. Try something you have never done before. What is on the bucket list of things to do? I know for me, just doing things for myself that I would so conveniently ask others to help with has been liberating. Never fixed the rubber molding on the bottom of my glass shower door before, now I am an expert. Ask me anything about the proper silicone to use…haha. I have also committed to do more crafting. Used to love to do that. Not sure why, but it got put to the wayside. I set up an area to use for craft projects in my home. I put my music on and off I go….into the world of crafting. It makes me smile and feel alive.
Find something new to do with friends, as much as you feel comfortable. We have all gotten used to being in our homes and doing everything virtually. Try to get back out there and connect with others. Even if it’s once in a while. It feels so good to be in the same room or on the same patio as my friends and family again. The connection gained can wake up our insides and help us to feel more joy.
Have we set up anything in our life to look forward to? With COVID, we did not know the status of many things because everything was cancelled. Now that things are opening up, can we plan a trip or look for a local event that we might want to safely attend? Having something in our future that gets us excited is a great way to wake up our happy emotions. I am happily planning a wedding with my daughter. That gives me a year of good things to look forward to. What can you plan?
These are just a few suggestions. Would love to hear your ideas of how you are waking up your happy emotions and enjoying spring growth.
Thank you for your trust in me. Be safe and be well.
