Causeway Log 2025

If you're new to the club, here's the story behind the Causeway Log...

Close to 10 years ago, we were looking for ways to get folks off the porch and out on the water, and so the Causeway Log was born. The goal is for you to sail from the club (raise sails just out of the bay) all the way to the causeway, ROUND THE PIN, and sail all the way back. If you run out of wind (or daylight) on your way back, you're out of luck and your trip does not count. There's no time limit, and stops are allowed and encouraged, so go ahead and anchor for lunch and a swim along the way. Motoring is not permitted. Once you successfully complete a round trip sail, mark your trip on the causeway log (on the dining room bulletin board). The boat with most trips at the end of the season wins. The coveted prize is your is bragging rights! And so you know, bragging rights go a long way on the porch with these seasoned Porch Rats!

Get your boats in the water, and get sailing!

Kickoff to Summer in the books!

PCC Members are not a group of people to let the weather affect a party! We kicked off the summer by moving indoors where it was warm and dry. The six chili contestants were carefully judged and the prize was awarded to Sue Porter for her delicious chicken chili. Congratulations Sue! In addition to chili sampling, our party goers feasted on traditional BBQ pulled pork and fried chicken with all the fixings. Here's a big thank you to all who braved the cold and especially to all who helped out in the kitchen. Now, onto the Steak Fry and hope for better weather. Thank you, Pam, for all that you do!

Clubhouse gets a much needed pressure washing!

The clubhouse was well past due for some spring cleaning on the outside, and finally got a much needed pressure washing job done. Thank you to Pat Donnelly for coordinating. Money for the professional pressure washing services was collected from Work Party buy out fees.

Buildings and Grounds updates...

It is great to see all the activity back at the club and things seem to be back in full swing for the summer. Of note, the lawn has been very soft from the excessive rainfall, so please be mindful when moving your heavy boats, even mowing has been a challenge.

While many items were accomplished at the spring work party and the place looks really good, the upkeep of our treasured club never really ends. If you have an hour or two to spare, or couldn’t make it to the work party, you can still get in important volunteer hours. Try to tackle any one of items that still need to be completed. A list of identified tasks will be placed on the board in the clubhouse. However, as a member run club, anything that you identify as needing attention is fine. Please make sure to document time spent on projects at the club on the worklist.

See you all at the club and out on the water.

Missing propane burner

One of the club propane burners, like the one pictured above, is missing from the club property. If you borrowed it, please return it. A number of other club owned items that were stored in the garage are not able to be located. If you borrowed anything, please return it. If you think something is no longer needed and you want to have it please ask first. Thank you!

Make PCC Payments via Zelle!

Zelle is a fast, safe, and easy way to send money directly between almost any U.S. bank accounts typically within minutes. Zelle allows individuals to electronically transfer funds from their bank account to another registered user's bank account.

Zelle is typically done using your bank’s mobile app. Your bank provides instructions.

Zelle can handle any sized payments. You can pay for parties, pay your annual membership fees and dues, and any sized payment in between. You also can receive refunds and reimbursements from the club via Zelle (only with your permission).

Using Zelle is not required. It is just another convenient option available to you.

Monthly Hors d'Oeuvre Parties!

Our monthly Hors d 'Oeuvre parties are some of our favorite events! No RSVP's required and no cost - just show up and bring a dish to share. BYOB or donate to the club fridge! During the winter months (Nov. - Apr.), parties start at 5pm on the first Saturday of every month. During May - October, plan on eating around 6pm to allow more time on the water! This is a great opportunity to invite friends or family and show them what we are all about, or meet some of our new members. See you all then!

Next event: Saturday, June 7th, @6PM.

Input to our monthly newsletter is encouraged and greatly appreciated! Please email articles and photos to Lidia at szarak2000@yahoo.com or text photos to 724-967-1910 by the 25th of each month.
