Hello AAC Members,

It seems while we have all been staying at home, summer has arrived! I hope you have gotten the chance to enjoy some outdoor activities. I have planted all my annual flowers in pots so the bunnies in my yard cannot reach them! Cute as they may be, they can chew through a whole row of flowers overnight. I had a nice Mother's Day with my family and received a beautiful gift from my daughters which I plan to hang in my office. When we return, stop by and take a look.

As we enter Phase 3 of the Restore Illinois Plan, Pottawatomie Community Center will reopen with modified hours for walk-in registrations, restroom use and limited rentals. The health and safety of our staff and patrons is our first priority. As difficult as the decision was to make, the AAC will remain closed throughout Phase 3.

There are many outdoor park amenities open including tennis courts, dog parks, garden plots, pickleball courts, Pottawatomie Golf Course and River View Minigolf (opening June 1).  I hope you can take advantage of these opportunities to get outside and stay active.  There's also many opportunities to engage in virtual activities such as beer tasting, BINGO, Trivia nights, Farm Kitchen Creations, fitness classes and more.

I found this great website that has a variety of memory games for adults and children. Playing games like Scrabble and Simon can give your brain a good workout!

When I was a child, I loved to color. I still enjoy coloring as an adult! I find it relaxing and a way to collect my thoughts. Did you know they make coloring books for adults? Grab some markers or colored pencils and get coloring!

Wishing all the AAC Dads a Happy Father's Day on June 21. However you spend your day, may it be filled with everything wonderful and may you be surrounded by those you love the most.

I look forward to seeing you again soon, and promise to stay in touch!
