JUNE 2017

First and foremost, a HUGE thank you to everyone who performed at the Spring Concert on June 4th. The afternoon ran very smoothly, with over 150 performances taking place across 3 stages in just over 3 1/2 hours. Some of the highlights of the event included a performance of Coldplay's "Viva La Vida" from our newest String Ensemble, several collaborations between voice & drum students, a record number of student rock bands treating us to music from the 50's up through today, plus a one-of-a-kind student/teacher duet on the Beatles' classic, "Hey Jude". Check out the video:
Keep on reading for more information about how to join up with a band or ensemble and other ways to make more music this summer...

Have you seen the 200+ photos & 50+ videos yet?

A huge thanks to our wonderful photographers: Philip Liborio Gangi, Justin Garrett & Juan Montalvo
Did you catch any of the performances from student bands at the Spring Concert? In case you missed it, do not fear, as we caught plenty of video ( which you can  CLICK HERE to enjoy on YouTube).

Not only are the bands some of the most exciting performances of the concert, but the students that participate in bands get to have a powerful and encouraging musical experience that often gives them the motivation they need to take music to the next level. We are accepting new band members of all ages on all instruments.

We are excited to launch our 2nd String Ensemble. Under the instruction of Miss Judy, our new group will focus on playing fun arrangements of Pop/Rock music. Violin, viola, cello & bass students of all ages and skill levels are invited to join the fun.

If you have any questions, or would like to give it a try, please respond to this email & let us know!

Every Wednesday at 7:30pm, our stage is open for student performances!

Come try out a song that you wrote, or a song that you have been working on in lessons. We are happy to provide a comfortable space and a small audience for anything that you have ready. The open jam session will begin after preparded performances.

School: Wells Middle School
Students Since: January 2015

After his stellar performance at the Spring Concert, we are pleased to honor Daniel Trampe as Student of the Month. Since age 6, Daniel has loved playing the piano. From week to week, his teacher, Kevin, always sees improvement in his playing. Kevin admires Daniel's positive, optimistic attitude. "He likes challenging music and works hard to play it," says Kevin.

Daniel's performances are not limited to Music Time Academy Concerts. He recently participated in the City of Dublin Talent Show - a fundraiser to allow low income families access to rec center activities. He also participated at the Wells Middle School Talent Show, performing "You've Got a Friend in Me".

Like many music students, Daniel is not simply a skilled, talented & hardworking when it comes to piano. Daniel just earned a second degree black belt in Taekwondo, in addition to maintaining excellent grades and a position on the Principal's Honor Roll for the past 2 years straight. Daniel also volunteers as a math tutor for younger students.

Keep up the fantastic work, Daniel! With your enthusiasm and diligence, you can achieve anything.

Will Jenkins

For June 2017, we would like to introduce yet another addition to our growing staff of wonderful instructors, Will Jenkins! Will is our new Saturday drum instructor.
Raised right here in Livermore, California, Will Jenkins brings us nearly 20 years of drumming experience, plus a world-class education from the highly regarded Musicians Institute in Hollywood, California. As a professional musician since he finished college in 2012, Will has recorded and toured with a variety of bands, most recently performing with country act Brodie Stewart.

Will's passion for music began at a very young age, so long ago that he can barely remember what exactly drew him in. He suspects, however, that it may be a result of the "Best of Van Halen" cassette tape that he recalls playing repeatedly as a child. Since age 7, and continuing up through this day, Will has been an avid student of the drums. He has worked with some very notable private drum instructors, including John X, Dave Elitch, Chris Coleman, Michael Iveson & T Moran. Will gives credit to his weekly gig playing in the church band for providing him with the experience & confidence that he needed to become a professional, gigging drummer.

As an instructor, Will puts a strong emphasis on good practice habits, proper technique and reading/rhythmic theory.

"I want all my students to have a solid foundation and not be limited in their own expression on the kit.  My goal for my students is first and foremost for them to fall in love with music and specifically the drums the same way that I have."
