The summer time is a good time for students and OSY to explore next steps in their life and career paths. As you interact with them this summer, consider using the iSOSY Career Awareness Toolkit to help you and your migratory student discuss themes that are important when thinking about their future. As the service provider, you have the option to address one theme during a single visit or multiple ones over time.

Themes include:

self-awareness
goal setting
career awareness
financial awareness
education
other skills and resources

Father’s Day is celebrated in the month of June in the United States and many Latin American countries. We wish a Happy Father’s Day to all the father figures in the MEP program, especially the young high school and OSY fathers who support their children every day. As you interact with those fathers this summer, consider sharing parenting and family resources with them. You can find a lesson titled “Traveling by Car with Your Baby” on the iSOSY website. The ID&R Consortium (IDRC) also has a Parent Portal with many helpful and interactive websites.

Did you know that June is National Dairy Month in the United States? The dairy industry is very important in the country, so much so that you can find a dairy farm in all 50 states! To learn more fun facts about this observance and the dairy industry, check out this site. As MEP service providers we meet many OSY who work in the dairy industry. Let’s take a moment to acknowledge and thank them for all their hard work. Don’t forget there are two Dairy Farm STAT Lessons you can teach to OSY in the dairy industry. Feel free to try it out this summer!
