June is National Safety Month

It is important to take necessary precautions in our home, work, and community to ensure everyone's safety. In addition to physical safety, there are other types of safety required to be fully healthy, including mental and emotional safety. This can include having freedom to express oneself without fear, having a sense of belonging and inclusion within a community or group, and being encouraged to learn and grow.

iSOSY offers a set of Mental Health Lessons that serve as a way to begin conversations about personal safety - including the physical, emotional, and social aspects.

iSOSY also offers several resources focused on physical safety. Take a moment to check out the links below.

There are STAT Lessons (Short Targeted and Timely) that focus on weather-related safety (Earthquake, Flood, Hurricane,Tornado, and Wildfire), as well as one created to understand Heat Stress while out on the job.

Life Skills lessons focus on keeping oneself and family safe, including Protecting your Back While Working, Traveling by Car with your Baby, and Safety with your Finances.

FYI Sheets touch on a variety of life skills and/or survival guidelines in the areas of health and employment

Empowering our youth through education and understanding builds strength!

June is National Dairy Month and a great time to thank our dairy workers!

As MEP service providers we meet many students who work in the dairy industry. Let’s take a moment to acknowledge and thank them for all their hard work.

Don’t forget there are two Dairy Farm STAT Lessons you can teach to students in the dairy industry. Feel free to try it out this summer! And if you want to learn more about the dairy industry check out this resource provided by Midwest Dairy.

On June 15th we celebrate and honor the men who have embraced the essential role of fatherhood. On this day, we also thank fathers and father figures for the sacrifices they make, for embracing the responsibility of nurturing and raising children, and for their devotion to their families. Happy Father’s Day to all our hardworking migratory farmworker fathers and father figures!
