Member Recognition

For the month of June, HCC would like to recognize the group of members who made our Prom/Graduation underage drinking prevention campaign possible.  Our awareness campaign theme was for local youth to  “Make Lasting Memories” without the influence of alcohol.

The campaign began during the week of May 13 th as many of the Cattaraugus County Schools were holding prom that weekend.  Several HCC members approached local businesses and asked if they would be willing to participate.  Thank you to the following members who made this initiative possible:  Ashley Hawley (Healthy Community Alliance), Megan Parisi (Cattaraugus Community Action), Ashleigh Bova (Salamanca City Central School), Liz Threehouse (Idea Girl Company), and Erica Sebastian (CAReS)!

HCC Receives a Visit from the Office of National Drug Control Policy!
Anne Hazlett, the Senior Advisor for Rural Affairs with the Office of National Drug Control Policy stopped by CAReS to speak with us regarding Cattaraugus County.  Currently, she is traveling around the U.S. and meeting with coalitions in rural communities to learn some of the challenges they are faced with in reaching all sectors with prevention messaging, education, reducing stigma, and the substances that are most impacting their area.  We were honored to have the opportunity to share our story with her!
HCC Will Be At The Movies

Starting in July, you will be able to view HCC's advertisement at the start of each movie at the Olean, NY AMC Theater. Thank you Western Regional AddictionResource Collaborative for making this possible! Please click here to view the Press Release.

Annual Coalition Celebration Hosted by the Prevention Resource Center

HCC attended the Annual Coalition Celebration hosted by the WNY Prevention Resource Center on May 8 th , 2019 at the Terry Hills Banquet Facility in Batavia, New York.  It was a day of education, networking and fun!  Coalitions from around WNY shared their ideas and success stories while also brainstorming ideas to be more effective in recruiting and engaging youth in our substance abuse prevention work.
Thank you again to the PRC for hosting such a great event!

Another Threat to Teen Safety Can be What is Sitting in Your Driveway

With summer quickly approaching there will be a lot of teens on the road. Teens are more at risk for crashes out of any other age group. There are also different crash characteristics between male and female drivers as well as younger and older teens.

Please check out the following report for more details:
