The main topic of conversation remains the sale of the building and due diligence continues with our potential purchaser. Several members have asked about where our next home will be. We will remain in Manchester and the requirements include adequate parking, an elevator, and handicap accessibility. Ron Blais, Julie Smith, and I looked at three properties this past week and will continue to visit potential properties in the coming weeks. Open space is a prime need in order to relocate our many bookshelves and set up a sizable computer area. The process of evaluating what to take is also on-going and has resulted in a Moving Sale, please check that out on our Web site!
We have secured two speakers for our Fall Conference and Annual Meeting to be held on the 28th of September at the Puritan Back Room. Michael Leclerc is a well-known author and genealogist having worked for the New England Historic and Genealogical Society and Mocavo. Michael will speak about Notarial documents and the seigneurial system in Quebec Our second speaker, Patrick Lacroix, is a young historian whose primary area of interest is the borderland regions of Northern Vermont and New York. He has also authored for several academic journals including Quebec Studies and the Journal of Early American History. We hope to see you there!
The Nominating Committee has been organized. If you have any interest in serving on the Board, please send an email of intent to: Jackie Watson, Chair, with "Nominations" in the Subject Line.
A bientôt

Spotlight on Journals and Periodicals
How Can I Find Something Useful to My Research?
ACGS
exchanges periodicals with other societies and organizations.
Our member, Larry
Autotte
#3505, compiles articles from this and other journals in the
From Other Publications
section of
American-Canadian Genealogist
.
In the past, Periodical Resource Index (PERSI) was accessed at HeritageQuest or Ancestry, it is now offered by FindMyPast.org, a paid subscription site. Enough of PERSI can be accessed for you to find the names of articles in journals that may be on our shelves.
|
From Findmypast's homepage, click on Our Records
|
|
|
In the A-Z Search of record sets, type "periodical" in the box, select Periodical Source Index
|
|
|
The search function on this site is more complicated than when it was on HeritageQuest. It may take awhile to find how to use it effectively. Findmypast subscribers can browse articles in specific journals.
