JUNE
From the Desk of Julie
Greetings!
It was great seeing many of you at the staff education fair. Thank you to those who volunteered and participated in the communication committee!

I will be sharing more at the staff meeting about the committee meeting/work.

This month I would like to share some business stats that you may find interesting. As you know we have been very busy with all programs and services and the following data will demonstrate our growth. We attribute this growth to being the preferred provider in our service area along with our aging population.

We are continually getting positive feedback from patients and community members about our work.
If there is anything you want to hear about at the staff meeting please let me know and I will add it to our agenda.

Best,
Our staff meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, June 20. Please rsvp here and then choose your food items using the button below!

DEI Corner
Understanding and accepting gender identity in your personal and professional life will help to create an inclusive culture that values and supports individuals of all gender identities.  Gender identity is a fundamental aspect of DEI as it recognizes and affirms the inherent diversity of everyone. Gender identity encompasses an individual’s deeply-held sense of their own gender, which may or may not align with the sex they were assigned at birth. By acknowledging and respecting diverse gender identities organizations and communities can foster inclusivity, representation and equal opportunities for all individuals. Embracing gender diversity contributes to a more comprehensive understanding of human experiences, challenges traditional gender norms and stereotypes, and dismantles systemic discrimination. Understanding gender identity ensures that everyone, regardless of their gender identity, can fully participate and thrive in all aspects of society. It is a critical step towards creating a more equitable and inclusive culture where everyone’s identities and experiences are valued and celebrated.

Understanding this concept is important because it recognizes the fundamental right that everyone has to express and identity themselves authentically. By acknowledging and affirming diverse gender identities we can create inclusive environments where employees and peers feel safe, valued and empowered to bring their wholes selves to work. Embracing gender identity allows people to challenge and dismantle traditional gender norms and biases that spread discrimination and inequality. By promoting gender identity inclusivity we can foster a sense of belonging for individuals of all gender identities, ensuring the way for greater creativity, collaboration and innovation within their life. Prioritizing gender identity contributes to a more equitable and inclusive society, where everyone can thrive and bring their true self to every part of their day.

Updates and Important Info
Education Team Update
(There was great feedback for the information that Silas provided at the staff education fair that the Education Team asked Silas to put in a few pieces of information over the next couple newsletters for the topic around bowel aids.)

Bowel Aids – 1st Education Series
Is it a UTI, or is it impaction?
A main function of the large intestine is to remove fluid from fecal material. Normally, feces take 30-40 hours to pass through the large intestine, resulting in a soft-but-formed stool. A number of factors can increase “transit time” and thus result in a harder, smaller stool. If the stool becomes too dry and the large intestine is not able to “pass” it, stool builds up in the rectum. An impaction can form in as little as 5 days, but can last for weeks or even contribute to death.

Symptoms of impaction can be vague. They include urinary urgency or incontinence, fatigue, irritability, abdominal discomfort. In advanced stages, impaction can result in severe pain, hallucinations, and agitation. Liquid stool may or may not leak around the hardened stool. The best way to identify impaction is with a digital examination. With patient consent, this can be performed by RNs or LPNs in the state of NH. LNAs can also administer enemas and rectal suppositories if in question of constipation.

Please stay tuned for more educational aids within the next few employee newsletters. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Silas Archambault.

Outreach Volunteer Available for Patient Item Needs
We now have an outreach volunteer who will go each week as needed and collect gently used clothing and household items from the SHARE fund for free for patients in need. Just email Ann sizes and gender and what they need, and the volunteer will make a box up for them and then put it in the lobby with your name on it!

Here is feedback from a recent patient:
"Please extend the biggest thank you to the volunteer who picked out M's clothes. She was so over the moon today when I dropped them off and appreciated each item she picked out."
Remittance Envelopes in Lobby
For patients who might want to donate to the organization, there are remittance envelopes in the front lobby that you can keep with you in the event that a patient wishes to make a gift.
