Thinking about swimming in college? Head Coach Ian Murray is conducting informational meetings for families with rising freshman and above on the college recruiting process. He will discuss what opportunities exist to swim in college, as well as the process and timeline of recruiting. Additionally, Dynamo parent Susan Auerbach will provide a parent's perspective, having been through the process with her three sons.
Alpharetta's meeting on May 29 was very well attended - standing room only!
CHAMBLEE MEETING will be Monday, June 3 at 6:30 pm.

USA SWIM OFFICIAL TRAINING
|
Dynamo hosts several meets throughout the year requiring many volunteers. One way to volunteer is to become a USA Swim Official - the ones wearing white polos at all the meets! It is a wonderful way to give back to a sport and team that gives all our children lifelong skills both in and out of the water. NO PRIOR KNOWLEDGE OF SWIMMING IS NEEDED TO BECOME A SWIMMING OFFICIAL. The next training opportunity will be:
Stroke & Turn (S & T) Judge Training
June 12th | 7:00pm-9:30pm (on-line)
S & T Judges stand at either end of the pool or walk along the side of the pool observing the swimmers to ensure that the technical rules of the individual strokes are being followed.
There are so many benefits of becoming a USA Swim Official. You can satisfy your Dynamo volunteer requirement, gain a better understanding of your child's sport, have the best spot on deck for watching everyone swim, and much more including free meals and reserved parking!
To RSVP for the above training session or to get more information on becoming a USA Swim Official, contact Clarice Wasmuth, Dynamo Official's Coordinator.

24 Hour Athlete
As we get into the summer season it is important to think about how your daily actions affect your long term goals. Being a great swimmer (or athlete of any sort) is not just about the time spent actually training. The best of the best are thinking about being great 24 hours a day.
What we as athletes do between two training sessions is almost more important than the training itself. A training session of any kind is designed to stress your body and force it to adapt to the work you are doing. However, the biggest part of this adaptation occurs after the training is over.
First, refuel your body properly with fluids, protein, and carbohydrates within 20 minutes of the workout followed by a full meal within an hour of the workout. Consistently done, this can be a major contributor to putting together many successful workouts in a row.
Next, you must consider sleep patterns. Sleep is also a major contributor to recovery so you can perform at your best during the workouts. Try to have a consistent bed time and wake time.
Eliminate screen time of all sorts at least one hour before bed time. Athletes at these ages and abilities may require anywhere between 9 and 11 hours of sleep a night.
Finally, you must consider self-talk. What we say to ourselves, about ourselves will be our eventual reality. Make sure you are listening, and then make sure you are controlling the narrative. See yourself in successful situations, whether at a practice or at a competition, knowing that the images you hold of yourself in your mind is the direction you will move towards.
Working on these few steps will put you in the right direction to becoming a 24 Hour Athlete!

Dynamo Swim Club is committed to providing a safe and inclusive environment for our athletes and families. Did you know that USA Swimming Safe Sport offers online training for athletes and parents? In addition, by taking this training, you can
help Dynamo achieve the coveted USA Swimming Safe Sport Club Recognition status. To become a Safe Sport Recognized Club, a certain percentage of parents and athletes must take the USA Swimming online Athlete Protection Training course.
As of June 23, 2019, each and every USA Swimming member must take the online course. This means that each of your athletes must login in to USA Swimming with their information and take the course. Please take the time to sit with your athletes and take the course with them. You can use this time to familiarize yourself with Safe Sport on the next level and have a conversation with your children about preventing abuse and bullying.
Please take this opportunity within the next few weeks to educate yourself about Safe Sport and elevate Dynamo at the same time! If you have any questions, please reach out to Ceci Christy via email
or at 404-219-6915.
USA Swimming has also released the full policy document on Minor Athlete Abuse Prevention. You can find it
here.

Save These Dates!
Dynamo Swim Club has been awarded the
2019 Toyota U.S. Open (previously called Winter Nationals) AND the
2019 Speedo Winter Junior Championships. Both events will be held at the Georgia Tech Aquatic Center.
The Toyota U.S. Open will be a Long Course Meters meet and will be December 4th - 7th. A Short Course Yards Time Trial will be on December 8th. The significance of this meet cannot be understated: the best of the best will be competing to qualify for the 2020 Olympic Trials, and potential for the Olympic team.
The Speedo Winter Junior Championships will be a Short Course Yards meet and will be December 11th - 14th. A Long Course Meters Time Trial will be on December 10th.
Each of these important meets will require 250+ volunteers and will be a great opportunity to see some fast swimming up close. In addition, the revenue potential is significant for our club.
