Bloomberg Youth Climate Action Fund

empowers 22 youth-led teams

On June 9, Town Hall buzzed with energy and innovation as young leaders gathered for the official kick-off of Round 2, Oakville’s Youth Climate Action Fund. The event celebrated 22 youth-led climate projects selected to receive funding through the initiative, supported by Bloomberg Philanthropies.


Project leaders had the opportunity to present their ideas, share their passion for sustainability, and connect with fellow award recipients. From urban gardens and recycling programs to electric autonomous vehicles and conservation initiatives, the diversity of projects reflected a shared commitment to climate action and community impact.


The event marked the start of an exciting journey for Oakville’s next generation of climate leaders. The town looks forward to seeing these projects come to life and contribute to a more sustainable future.

Mayor and councillors congratulate board at ground breaking for high school in north Oakville

Mayor Rob Burton today joined MPP Effie Triantafilopoulos, Councillors Tom Adams, Nav Nanda and Scott Xie at the official groundbreaking ceremony for Oakville Northeast #1 High School


Hosted by the Halton District School Board, the event marked a significant milestone for north Oakville’s growing community. The new four-storey, state-of-the-art high school will welcome 1,388 students and include 88 licensed childcare spaces, a light-filled open concept library, music room with stage, and sports field.


In his remarks, Mayor Burton and councillors congratulated the Province, Board and community on this important investment in public education and the future of Oakville’s youth.

Oakville Fire launches Summer Splash, July 9

Oakville Fire is bringing safety and fun to local parks with the return of its annual Summer Splash campaign. Starting July 9, fire crews will visit splash pads across town to connect with families, showcase fire trucks, and share important fire safety tips.

Halton Police announces an enhanced partnership with Reach Out Centre for Kids (ROCK)

The Halton Regional Police Service (HRPS) is deepening its longstanding partnership with the Reach Out Centre for Kids (ROCK), Halton’s lead agency for children and youth mental health. A new initiative will embed ROCK Crisis Counsellors directly within the HRPS Youth Team.


This enhanced collaboration will improve connections to mental health services for vulnerable youth and families, provide on-the-ground support during non-emergency calls, and expand training for officers. The addition of ROCK Crisis Counsellors will strengthen HRPS’s commitment to compassionate, timely, and effective support for young people in our community.

Oakville named Culture Days fesitavl hub for 2025

For the fourth year in a row, Oakville has been named a Provincial Festival Hub for Culture Days, Ontario’s annual celebration of arts, culture, and community.


Running from September 19 to October 12, 2025, the festival will once again showcase a wide variety of free, family-friendly cultural experiences across the town.

Public notice of pesticide use in 2025 for control of aphids using insecticidal soap


Aphids are invasive, small, soft-bodied insects that feed on plants and trees by sucking sap from leaves and stems. They excrete a sugary substance called honeydew, which drips down on the surrounding area and promotes growth of a harmless mould that can stain leaves. Populations are at their peak during the late summer and decline with cooler weather in the fall.

Public notice of pesticide use in 2025 for control of Emerald Ash Borer (Agrilus planipennis)


Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is an invasive beetle, not native to North America, that has been present in the GTA since 2007. EAB is an aggressive, invasive insect that has killed millions of ash trees throughout Ontario. There are currently no native, natural controls to keep EAB populations low enough to avoid tree mortality.

Ontario Launches Plan to Secure Energy for Generations


Today, the Ontario government released Energy for Generations, the province’s first-ever integrated energy plan - a comprehensive roadmap to meet future energy needs, support new housing and power the most competitive economy in the G7. This plan is an important part of the government’s work to protect Ontario by bringing together electricity, natural gas, hydrogen and other energy sources under a single coordinated strategy to ensure the province has the affordable, secure, reliable and clean energy needed to build a more competitive, resilient, and self-reliant province.

Ontario Helping More Families Access Fertility Supports


The Ontario government is helping more families access fertility treatments by expanding access to in vitro fertilization (IVF) services under the Ontario Fertility Program (OFP), with a call for applications open today to all Ontario fertility clinics. The applications are part of the government’s plan to protect Ontario by improving public services, investing $250 million over three years to increase the number of clinics participating in the OFP and shorten wait lists in both hospitals and community settings. The province is also implementing the new Ontario Fertility Treatment Tax Credit, retroactive to January 1, 2025.
