Family Health & Fitness Day - Saturday, June 13th
Parks Build Healthy Communities

Saturday, June 13th is Family Health & Fitness Day! The National Recreation and Park Association will celebrate the importance of parks and recreation in keeping families and communities healthy.

Park and recreation agencies everywhere are encouraged to participate by sharing ways families can be active while practicing safe physical distancing on June 13, whether by participating in virtual programs at home or in their local parks where state and local ordinances allow. Members of the healthcare community and families are encouraged to participate.

Do something fun and share your photos on social media using the hashtag:
Need some fun ideas?
  1. Encourage family bike rides/hikes on trails that are open.
  2. Host a sidewalk chalk art contest.
  3. Have “bear hunts” – encourage people in your community to place a stuffed animal in a visible window of their home so that families can go for a walk and search for them and take photos of the things they find.
  4. Cook a healthy meal together.
  5. Take a walk / play outside.
Share your fun with us by sending us a blurb about how you celebrated
