June 14, 2026

Greetings!. This week, I have selected these keywords from our Gospel to reflect on.

Solemnity of the Word of God (A)

"But as for the seed that fell on rich soil, they are the ones who, when they have heard the word, embrace it with a generous and good heart, and bear fruit...." (Luke 8:15)

In this Sunday’s Gospel, Jesus offers us the Parable of the Sower. We are reminded that God is an extravagant Sower, generously scattering His Word across every corner of our lives. The variable in this divine imagery is never the quality of the seed, but the condition of our hearts. It’s easy for the Word to be trampled by distractions, withered by superficial faith, or choked out by daily anxieties. Yet, Christ calls us to look inward and actively cultivate "rich soil" within ourselves. When we intentionally embrace Scripture, God's grace takes deep root and transforms us. Let us commit to reading, praying, and living the Word of God. Through patience and perseverance, may we allow His message to bear abundant fruit in our community.

Peace,

Fr. Mark

Sunday School Comes to a Close

The 2025-2026 Sunday School year comes to a close after Holy Mass this Sunday. Heartfelt thanks go to Miss Kelly for her dedication and personal commitment to deepen the faith of our children. Thanks also to the parents who ensure that their children's religious instruction is a priority. And CONGRATULATIONS to all our SOCL students! Enjoy the summer and see you in September!

Maddie is Graduating!

Dear BVMC Family,

We can't believe that Maddie is graduating from high school! They say it takes a village to raise a child; in our case, it has taken a church. Maddie would not be the young woman she has become without the constant love, support, and guidance she has received from our BVMC family. We would love to invite you to stop by the church for her graduation party to congratulate her on her accomplishments and wish her well as she goes off to college! RSVP to Justine 518-275-9442 or jfazziola@gmail.com

YOUR DONATIONS MATTER!

The groceries you place in the baskets in our vestibule become a real blessing for families in need here in our community. Each week, the Food Pantry at Christ Our Light Parish serves between 80 and 110 people — and our donations help make that possible.

Donations of non-perishable food items are always welcome. Please note that glass containers and expired food cannot be accepted.

Monetary donations are also appreciated. Financial gifts allow the pantry staff to purchase food in bulk at reduced prices, so those donations go even further in feeding those in need. Checks may be made payable to Christ Our Light Food Pantry and can be placed in the collection basket.

Before Holy Mass

Please observe some quiet time before Mass to prepare yourself for worship: meeting God in His Word, Confession, and Holy Communion.

We pray for all parishioners of the Blessed Virgin Mary Parish, Latham, NY, that we might all seek to become the people God means us to be, serving God in the people around us. We pray to the Lord.
