Words from Will...
The Third Year Begins
The 2018 Annual Conference is history and we begin our third year of ministry with you. Special thanks to Rich Thompson, Bill Canet and Paula Holmes who served as our Lay Delegates. John Clifford and myself were there as clergy. For two days, our new associate pastor, David Johnson was also in attendance. We had beautiful worship services, including the first Annual Conference baptism I have seen...a baby daughter for a clergy couple that serves two different congregations. Our conference

teacher was Junius Dotson, the General Secretary for Discipleship for the United Methodist Church. He was ordained deacon while serving Campus Drive United Methodist Church in Ft. Worth. His teaching fit perfectly into what our Vision Core Team has been working on for Vision 2025. The delegation will make a fuller report of what happened in Waco later.

As this new ministry year begins, we head into a great summer. This Sunday, we launch Vacation Bible School. Nearly 800 children and leaders will be involved in our two sessions. Special thanks to the VBS Leadership Team and to Jennifer Hall, Director of Children's Ministry, for leading an event which will bless these children for the rest of their lives. The theme is Shipwrecked, so I am preaching about the Apostle Paul's shipwreck on the island of Malta (the first time I have preached that passage).

Next Sunday, June 24, I will do my first Sermon-in-Song with you entitled, "Hope for the Ages - Singing the Spirituals." I will be singing "Deep River," "Joshua," and "My Lord, What a Mornin". Tina will be joining me in a fabulous version of "Every Time I Feel the Spirit." The congregation will be singing in the sermon also.

Of course, a great highlight for June 24, is the lunch with Katie Meek, who will be with us to share her missionary work in Sierra Leone. Click here to reserve your luncheon ticket by June 20.

See you Sunday for a great morning of worship and community in Christ's love.

Sincerely in Christ,
Will Cotton Signature

HS Mission

HS Summer Mission...H2O in Baton Rouge
We had 89 High School students and adults working on homes that had been affected by the Red River flooding from 2016. Many teams worked on installing bathrooms and flooring while others built chain link fences, installed windows and replaced roofs. Our mission team partnered with Revive 225, a ministry of First United Methodist Church, Baton Rouge. Our group had the opportunity to build relationships with those they served, the staff of Revive 225 and church volunteers. Each night was a cultural experience, that included an authentic cajun meal! As we served those who were affected by flooding, we reflected on the floods in our life through our theme H2O (Hope, Heal, Overcome). We thank each student and adult participant who answered the call to serve in Baton Rouge!
