Concerts on the Green Resume

Gloucester's Parks, Recreation and Tourism Department is excited to resume its free Concerts on the Green series this summer. This past Wednesday evening, concert-goers enjoyed a variety of music performed by "Just Dan."

The next Concert on the Green will feature St. Juliens Creek Revival June 30 at 6 p.m. on the lawn of County Office Building #2.

A Summer Warning for Pet Owners

We will be seeing abnormally hot conditions this weekend. Gloucester's Animal Control Department is urging residents to be mindful about not leaving animals in a parked car. For instance, if it's 85 degrees outside, it can reach 100 degrees inside your vehicle in just over five minutes!

PR&T to Host Kayak Adventure Series

Beaverdam is offering a Kayak Adventure Series this summer. Nothing is better than a day out on the lake!

Library Hosts Cuddle Care Clinic

The Gloucester Main Library hosted a Cuddle Care Clinic this week.

Sara the doll was treated with splints and feel better medicine for a broken leg. Wilma the Platypus underwent surgery to repair a small hole in her back. Waddles the Penguin underwent surgery to repair a small hole in his side. Dixie the Lamb underwent surgery to repair a small hole under her chin.

All patients are expected to quickly and fully recover from their boo-boos. Call 804-693-2998 to make an appointment for your special friend.

Upcoming Parks, Recreation and Tourism Programs

FOOD SAFETY CERTIFICATION
Parks, Recreation & Tourism is sponsoring a Food Safety Certification class on Tuesdays and Thursdays July 13-22 from 2:00-5:00 pm at the Stewart Building. This class meet the Gloucester County Code requirements for food establishments. The full class is $175. For the test only on July 22, the fee is $65 without a book and $85 with the book. The deadline for all options id June 29.

EXPERIENCE GLOUCESTER HISTORY DAY CAMP
Parks, Recreation & Tourism is sponsoring a day camp to Explore Gloucester History, July 19-22, 9:00 am to Noon at the Gloucester Museum of History. Visit the Gloucester Museum of History and Rosewell, learn about archaeology & artifacts, met Revolutionary War heroes and hear the sound of musket fire. Fee is $59 and the deadline to register is July 12.

PERFORMING ARTS CAMPS
Parks, Recreation & Tourism is sponsoring two performing arts camps from June 28-July 1 at T.C. Walker. For ages 7-11, Disney Camp will feature favorites from Disney movies, meet from 9:00 am to Noon. For ages 12-17, the Girls “Show Music Choir” camp will feature favorite show tunes, from 1:00-4:00 pm. The camp fees are $59 and the deadline to register is June 21.

SIT AND CRAFT
Parks, Recreation & Tourism is sponsoring a day of crafting at the Whitcomb Lodge on July 14 from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. Bring your crafts, your friends and a lunch. Each participant will have a 6 foot table, chair and access to restrooms, refrigerator, microwave and sink. The fee is $15 and the deadline to register is July 7.

HUG A TREE
Parks, Recreation & Tourism is sponsoring the Hug a Tree and Survive program for ages 7-11 on July 12 from 7:30-8:30 pm at the Whitcomb Lodge. This program gives youth tools to help them if they become lost. The program is free and the deadline to register is July 5.
