Parks, Transportation, Affordability

6/19/2019

Greetings on a gray day with the ominous threat of becoming a rainy Wednesday .

I’d like to start by saying it was great to see Board Members, both brand new and long in the tooth, at last night’s swearing in ceremony .

Now, on to a usual mix of items. Some of which you may have noticed walking down the street …

Tonight, June 19^th, at 6:30 our Parks & Recreation/ Environmental Protection (PREP) committee will meet at the Cobble Hill Health Center.
Speaking of parks, it should be noted that the #PLAYFAIR campaign that we voted to support was successful in increasing New York City's Park budget for fiscal year 2020. Big shout out to our Parks Committee chair Glenn Kelly who will be reading this from Europe and others such as Joanna Smith who were very involved in making this happen!
Tomorrow night, Thursday, June 20^th, our Transportation & Public Safety Committee (TPS) will be meet at P.S 133.
While yesterday was the second of 2 Gowanus IBZ roundtable meetings, the Department of City Planning (DCP) is still asking that people fill out this survey. Also, if you weren’t able to make it to either meeting or just want a refresher, here is the presentation DCP gave at both roundtables along with a one page summary.
In six days, on Tuesday June 25 ^th , there is a judicial election. Find out where to vote here.
From June 25^th until August 30^th the Brooklyn Queens Expressway will require lane closures between Old Fulton & Joralemon Street. A single lane will be closed from 12AM-1AM with double lane closures from 1AM-5AM. Work will occur one night a week (Tues or Thurs) & is weather dependent.
Interesting report on affordability from Comptroller Scott Stringer.
Alternate Side Parking rules will be in effect tomorrow, Thursday June 20th. Parking meters will also be in effect
Subway service changes for tomorrow, June 20.
Bus service changes for tomorrow, tomorrow, June 20.

As always, feel free to share this information anyway/anywhere you’d like.
