Wear Red to Church this Sunday

This Sunday (6/5) is Pentecost. Pentecost is a word that means (literally) “50” as Pentecost is the 50th day after Easter. It is the day when the Holy Spirit fell down from heaven on the believers and followers of Jesus. Since ancient days, the official color of Pentecost is RED. So... help us celebrate Pentecost this Sunday by wearing RED to church! Red shoes, socks, pants, shirts, dresses, accessories, etc... The more the better. (This goes for you watching online too. Take a picture of yourself wearing red and post it on our Facebook Live feed).

Did you miss a sermon or can't remember the good statement made by Pastor Jason recently?

Sometimes what is lost is meaning or understanding.

For all the list of different provinces where Jewish believers had come from to celebrate this harvest festival and the giving of the Torah to Moses, the strange events recorded by Luke do not include one statement the now flaming Galilean Jewish followers of Jesus were saying and being understood throughout the known "Jewish" world.

It does include Peter's response. And he proclaims the dawning of days where no one, regardless of gender, economic situation, or age would be withheld from the Spirit of God. This pouring out of the Holy Spirit means the culmination is on the way, the gospel is to be understood by all (and soon to spread to the Gentiles). God's purpose will not be lost in cultural or social structures but found and understood. Another harvest has commenced.

Attend Worship: Pastor Jason has encouraged an "A grade" of 90% worship attendance (missing less the 5 Sundays in a year). You can keep up your attendance by joining worship online through our Facebook premiere or our worship online page on the website. Join us in person or online... it will count!

Next Worship Series:

Lord, Teach Us to Pray

Beginning next Sunday, June 12 and for the next seven weeks, we will explore what has come to be known as The Lord's Prayer. This model prayer was not meant to be mindlessly recited, but to provide a pattern, an attitude, and an approach to living, talking, and acting as participants in God's kingdom on earth. Each Sunday will have a practical prayer activity that relates to the theme. If you (or someone you know) have struggled with praying or prayer, this series will help.

Finding faith and community in the margins with Comunidad Limen

Rev. Pedro Ramos Goycolea, the pastor of Comunidad Limen Christian Church, was trying to find the right words that would describe the ministry of his emerging community of faith. As the organizer of the first official Latinx, Spanish-speaking, open and affirming congregation in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ), he's often felt compelled to "justify" his theology in the past.

If so, you can make sure your tithe/gift/offering arrives whether you are able to attend or not! Often when someone is absent, their offering is also.
