BART Station Closures June 21st & 22nd

BART must replace decades old track components between Walnut Creek and Concord stations to ensure reliable service. To allow for the work to happen in the most efficient way possible as well as to provide safe conditions for workers, there will be no train service between Walnut Creek and Concord on Saturday June 21 and Sunday June 22. Instead, riders will get off their train and take a free bus to move between Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill/Contra Costa Centre, and Concord stations. Riders can expect delays of 20 to 30 minutes in the work area. The project will also require the cancellation of some late night and early morning trains.

This upcoming work is part of BART’s overall effort to improve safety and reliability of the 131-mile, 50 station system. There are now more rebuilding projects happening across BART than at any point in its 50-year history. You can learn more about the progress of this work by reading the 2024 Measure RR Annual Report.

You can keep up with the latest updates for trackway repair projects that impact service by going to our Alerts and Advisories page.

Contra Costa Fire Launches Nurse Navigation Program

On June 10, Contra Costa County Fire Protection District (ConFire) launched their Nurse Navigation program to provide expanded medical services to residents and visitors who call 911 in the service areas of the Contra Costa County Fire Protection District, Crockett-Carquinez Fire Department, Rodeo-Hercules Fire Protection District, and El Cerrito-Kensington Fire Department.

Through a collaboration with Global Medical Response (GMR), the Nurse Navigation program offers a cutting-edge healthcare solution that has demonstrated success in communities across the country. By matching 911 callers with the best possible medical treatment at the ideal time and place, the service expands their options for medical care.

The current 911 dispatching services provided by ConFire will be smoothly integrated with this new technology. Callers will be routed to a Nurse Navigator to help coordinate access to care and develop an acceptable treatment plan if a condition is determined not to require emergency care or transportation. A referral to a suitable community care resource may be part of this program's assistance in providing residents with the proper degree of care for their need.
