Michelle Dillard, Seneca's Principal, was honored with a Hilliard Lyons Excellence Award on Thursday, May 30th. This was the first annual awards program held by Hilliard Lyons. Prizes were given to outstanding Professional Learning Communities, Teachers and Principals. Seneca Past and Present Board Member Sandi Neat was honored to nominate Ms. Dillard for her tireless efforts to bring Seneca back to greatness! You can see pictures here.
Senior Awards night was held on May 30th also. Seneca Past and Present awarded its first annual award of $500 to Senior Dalila Setka! Applicants were required to write a couple of paragraphs describing why they thought Seneca High School prepared them for life after high school. Two recommendations were also required. Our thanks to Wave Townes '62 for presenting this award on Seneca Past and Present's behalf.
Wave Townes was quite busy on Awards Night. He also presented the awards for the Class of 1962 Essay Award. So many qualified candidates meant that there was a first place prize of $500 and a second place prize of $200. The first place award was given to Riley Nelson and second place went to Marlon Torriente Ramos. Congratulations!
As previously reported, Seneca was presented with a very generous check for the new Ron Cain Football Stadium scoreboard from the Marshall Foundation. This check, along with lots of donations from alumni, has allowed us to order the scoreboard and plan the installation for this summer. Dedication of the new field and scoreboard will be at the first home football game in August. Make plans to attend!
