Salt Blocks

If you do not already have a salt block in your horse's stall...now is the time.

"Horses do require about 1-2 ounces of salt per day to

help meet their requirement for sodium and chloride.  This requirement can increase to 4-6 ounces of salt per day in hot climates or under exercise where losses in sweat increase greatly.  Inadequate salt in the diet can result in abnormal eating behavior such as licking or chewing objects which have salt on them (fork handles etc.) or licking/eating dirt.  Water intake may also decrease, increasing the risk of impaction colic. In more extreme cases, horses will stop eating and may experience muscle incoordination."

Green Acres Ranch, Inc.

Green Acres is going GREEN!

In an effort to save water during California's current drought,
we will be updating our watering systems.

  Starting in mid June,
all stalls & paddocks currently equipped with automatic waterers will be
updated and extra water buckets will be removed.

Please Note:
Another way that we will be saving water is to let your horses drink their buckets down to a low level before scrubbing their buckets. Instead of dumping all of the water on the ground when we clean them. If you see that your water is low, we will most likely be scrubbing the bucket later that day.
ATTENTION GA BOARDERS AND CLIENTS
This is a reminder:

1.   Leave your dogs at home when  visiting Green Acres. It has been a long standing rule here at GA that only resident dogs may be allowed on the premises. This rule is for your dogs safety as well as the safety of fellow boarders, clients, and horses.

2. While here on the ranch, please park your vehicles in the parking lot.  Please do not park any vehicles at your horses stall or barn.   If you are delivering feed or heavy items, drop them off and then return your vehicle to the parking lot.

3. Please be mindful of activities going on while delivering items to your stall.  Horses always have the right away.  If there is an activity in front or near where you need to drop something off, please wait till it is over or return later.

And don't forget, please observe our speed limits and always yield to horses.
Speed Limit = No Dust!

Thank you for your help to keep Green Acres
a safe place for everyone to enjoy!

Forever in our hearts,  we will miss you Ruth...

"We are sad to report the passing of Ruth Husband, one of the great women of the Arabian horse world for more than 50 years. Ruth and her late husband, Dr. Bert Husband, bred Khemosabi++++//, four-time National Champion Stallion in Halter and Western Pleasure and sire of more
than 1,250 purebred Arabian offspring. She was the first and only manager of the Khemosabi Syndicate and served as Co-Chair of the 1984 IAHA Convention in San Diego. Ruth was a volunteer and leader in the Pacific Slope Arabian Horse Association, the Arabian Horse Association of Southern California, and Region 1 of IAHA. She was  elected a member of the Arabian Horse Trust Tent of Honor. Our condolences to her family - her three sons Paul Husband, Dr. Richard Husband and Dr. Robert Husband, nine grandchildren and six great grandchildren - and her many friends. She was a member of the Murrieta (California) Church of Christ, where her memorial service will be held on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at 11 a.m. Photo of Dr. Bert and Ruth Husband with Khemosabi at his 30th birthday party in 1997."  - Arabian Horse World Magazine

Ruth has been a long time  friend  of the Rich family and has kept her horses boarded here at Green Acres for many years. She would visit them frequently and her presence will be greatly missed by all of us.
