The Letort: A Limestone Legacy

In collaboration with CPC and the Cumberland County Historical Society, the South Mountain Partnership presents a speakers panel about the cultural history and environmental legacy of the Letort Spring Run.
Historian and Letort Spring Run landowner, Lorraine Luciano, will discuss the history and cultural legacy of the Bonnybrook area at the Letort headwaters, and Candie Wilderman, Professor Emeritus at Dickinson College and founder of the Alliance for Aquatic Resource Monitoring, will summarize the results of years of water quality monitoring data as well as the special ecological features of the stream and wetlands. Anna Yelk, CPC's executive director, will review a book that was published by the CPC and the Mid Atlantic Fly Fishing Guide to raise awareness of the stream and its surrounding wetland meadows, with proceeds supporting CPC's acquisition, restoration, and stewardship of the 34-acre former watercress farm.
