President's Message
Happy Summer!  I hope you are enjoying this special season where we get a chance to visit with family and friends and celebrate all things good, i.e.  weddings, graduations, reunions, & vacations.

This is also the time to energize yourself, physically, spiritually, and emotionally for the upcoming 4th quarter open enrollment season.  Our industry continues to play a critical role in the lives of our clients by providing health care insurance solutions.  Regardless of your specialty, each of us should be looking to 4th quarter!

Now is the time to plan - pay attention to the details.  Focus on your goals and remember your successes from the past.  We all have the same 24 hours in a day, 7 days a week, and the same 4th quarter chaos....  Those who are the most successful are those best prepared.  They are focused and armed for battle.  Regardless of what HHS, CMS, DOL, ERISA throws at our industry, they are ready to fight.  Those team members who rely on their talents, experience and NAHU Association as well as the expertise of their fellow NAHU colleagues, will certainly experience Successful year.  Your clients will have the best coverage available because you did your job well.

Your NEIAHU Chapter is no exception.  Your fellow team members have stepped up to fill the slate of officers as well as volunteered to serve as board members by chairing the various committees.  I look forward to announcing the 2016-2017 Slate of Officers / Board at the June 20th Membership Meeting.  The Installation of Officers / Board will take place at the July 18th membership meeting.  It would be awesome for these volunteers to know you appreciate and support them by being there to see them step into their leadership roles.  To register for July Membership Meeting, visit

To prepare for the upcoming year, your current and incoming board members will be attending a Board Retreat scheduled for July 13th.  This day will include: July Board meeting, Strategic Planning Session and Leadership training.  Please be sure to thank those who have made the commitment to serve this chapter both past and present.

If you missed the June 1st 1 hour CE webinar with Janet Trautwein, you can access the content by visiting the website:  Special thank you goes to Amber Frey and Crystal Michel for hosting the program at Lutheran Hospital as well as Cindy Trahin and David Berman, ISAHU President, for making this FREE program possible by covering the cost of the class filing and CE fees.

If you haven't already RSVP'd for our June 20th meeting, please visit to register / pay online.  It's fast & easy!  Our program committee works hard to bring you quality speakers on current topics.  If you know of a speaker or topic of interest, please be sure to pass along to Cindy Trahin.

Annual Convention is this month.  NEIAHU will have 6 members attending this year's event.  Ruste Pontenberg, Brian Steiner, and I will be your representatives, House of Delegates, during NAHU Annual business meeting during the convention.  Cindy Trahin will be serving as a state board delegate.  We look forward to sharing our experiences with you when we return.

Golf Outing SAVE the DATE!!  September 16, 2016.  This annual fund raising event is shaping up to be the best one, yet!!  The committee has been meeting regularly to work out the details for this very special day.

Organization Making a Difference (OMD) winner - Erin's House!!  Based on membership votes - Erin's House has been selected as this year's OMD recipient.  A portion of the funds raised at this year's Golf Event will be presented to this very deserving organization.

I look forward to sharing the results from the strategic planning session.  Each of you are asked to join a committee, please give it some thought as to where you might like to serve.  If you aren't sure, feel free to contact me or committee chair for more details.  We need the Best Volunteers to continue to be the Best Chapter.
