We want to extend a big THANK YOU to all of the Clubs that volunteered their time, energy and facilities to host this year's Club Championships tournaments. These events would not be possible without the help of our community members. A special thank you to the Richmond Field Hockey Club for hosting the U13 Boys & Girls Club Festival, in partnership with the Delta Falcons Field Hockey Club; the Vancouver Hawks Field Hockey Club for hosting the U15 Boys Club Championship; the Victoria Junior Field Hockey Association for hosting the U15 Girls Club Championship; and to the West Vancouver Field Hockey Club for hosting the U18 Girls Club Championship.

Also, thank you to all the athletes, coaches, officials, spectators & fans for participating in this year's tournaments. This was the inaugural season for the RESPECT program and it made a great impact!

Canadian Men Qualify for the 2018 World Cup
Congratulations to the Canadian Men's National Team on qualifying for the 2018 World Cup in Bhubaneswar, India! Canada finished 5th at the Hockey World League Semi-Finals in London, thereby clinching a spot in the prestigious Hockey tournament next year.
Canada had a strong performance at the Hockey World League Semi-Finals, which serves as a qualification for both the 2018 World Cup, as well as the Hockey World League Finals in December. They started the competition with an impressive 6-0 win over Pakistan that really set the pace for the rest of the tournament. Canada finished their campaign with a 3-3-1 record, with their losses coming from tight matches with higher ranked teams, the Netherlands, India and England. Most importantly, Canada came through when it really mattered, and booked their ticket to the World Cup with an exciting 3-2 victory over India, currently ranked 6th in the World.

Women's National Team: Call to Arms Fundraiser
Your Women's National Field Hockey team needs YOU!!!

Why? Well, despite climbing the World Rankings and growing in competitiveness and experience, in January of this year the team lost approximately $300,000 of Government Funding. As a result, the athletes, and their coaches, have taken on the daunting task of replacing this capital through sponsorship and fundraising. In order to maintain the Program, the athletes now have to pay to play. As all of the players on the team are full-time Athletes, many do not have the financial capability to remain with the Program if they are required to cover these significant costs, on top of their own costs of living. Program costs include such things as coach and staff salaries, facility and field time, travel, and competition. Their fundraising is an effort to offset these costs, to allow the team to focus on preparation for the 2017 PanAm Cup, the 2018 Commonwealth Games, and qualification for the 2020 Olympic Games.

So, how can you help? Here are 3 ways:
  1. Come have dinner! The Call to Arms Fundraiser Dinner will be held on July 15th, 2017 at Mahony & Sons Irish Pub, located on the UBC Campus. Individual tickets are available online for a cost of $40/person ($10 for children). Included in this ticket is an entree, side, drink and a ticket for some awesome door prizes! All the proceeds from the evening will go directly to the Women's National Team Program.
    BUY YOUR DINNER TICKETS NOW!

  2. If you are unable to attend the dinner, but you would like to know more about the team and their story, and/or make a tax-deductible donation, please visit  the Women's National team Chimp page.

  3. If you have an item you would like to donate to the silent auction or door prizes at the dinner, please send and email to [email protected].
