Pan-Canadian School Health Summit

We are excited to announce that Super Early Bird Registration is now open until June 30th, 2017; Plan ahead, save on costs and join us for the 9th annual Shaping the Future Conference! 

2018 will bring Shaping the Future to Lake Louise and to a national stage! The Pan-Canadian School Health Summit will build upon other provincial and national events to continue the conversation on positive, inspiring and evidence-based initiatives occurring across Canada. Leaders in education, health, active living, research and policy will gather from across the country to contribute to shared work and build a network of support for healthy school communities.

Workshop: Move Your Body, Grow Your Brain!

Calling all Teachers, support & administrative staff: have you ever thought of, or are you in the process of, making over your classroom to increase physical activity and decrease sedentary behaviour? Join us to share success stories, work through challenges, learn from other attendees and receive resources to support your work! This workshop is is guided by open space technology, encouraging attendees to take control of the agenda and discuss topics most important to them related to activity-permissive learning environments!
Workshop: Supporting Brain Development through Proactive Approaches Using Movement, Music and the Arts in our Classrooms
We have teamed up with the Edmonton Regional Learning Consortium to provide an experiential day of learning! This day will not only include the big ideas surrounding brain development, but teachers will experience the practical implementation strategies of what the research means. Understanding and setting up our classroom instruction and environments to foster brain development is a proactive approach. We know that proactive approaches are the key to fostering positive mental health.

Youth Run Club

The AMA Youth Run club has had a great year, reaching over 450 schools in Alberta, encouraging students to be active, healthy and happy runners!

Grant Opportunity!
In the interest of promoting wellness and active living, Alberta Blue Cross has launched the Healthy Communities Grant Program. Through this program, Alberta Blue Cross is investing $1 million, over a five-year period, to support and promote active living in communities across Alberta.
Funding for this program comes from the ABC Benefits Corporation Foundation, which was established by Alberta Blue Cross in 1998 in conjunction with its 50th anniversary.
Four $50,000 grants are being awarded each year to support community amenities and facilities that promote active living.
