Alumni News

Joey DeGrandchamp (BS in Chemistry and Math, 2017)  I initially enrolled at the U of A mostly because Tucson is my hometown, and it just seemed like the logical next step. My experience ended up being more fantastic than I could have ever hoped, largely thanks to the excellent faculty and staff of CBC. The program was rigorous, enjoyable, and ultimately prepared me for and facilitated my acceptance to many reputable Chemistry PhD programs. This includes the highly ranked program at UC Berkeley, where I will be in attendance this fall. Thank you so much, CBC!
Lauren Koch (BS in Biochemistry & MCB, 2017) CBC at the University of Arizona helped me to identify my passions and interests and gain the research experience necessary for continuing on to a PhD program. I will be attending the University of Michigan starting Fall 2017 to complete my PhD through their Program in Biomedical Sciences. I cannot thank CBC enough for the amazing advising, academics, professors, and experiences I've had!
Celina Nguyen (BS in Biochemistry, Molecular and Cellular Biology, 2017)  Over the last four years, the faculty and curriculum of UA CBC showed me how inquiry and discovery can help people in need. After graduation, I plan to broaden my research experience by working at the Broad Institute of Harvard and MIT for a couple of years before applying to MD/PhD programs so that I may become the best possible physician-scientist in the future.
Abbey Rasmussen (BS in Science Education & Chemistry, 2017)  Through my time at the U of A, in the CBC department, I grew so much as a person, and also had a lot of fun. I had amazing teachers in both chemistry and biochemistry, and my advisers were excellent, keeping me on track with my program and alerting me of opportunities for community service and scholarships. I graduated with a chemistry education degree, with a minor in biochemistry, and I will be teaching Honors Chemistry at a private high school in Tucson, beginning this fall.
