Check out what's happening

Tyler McCreary, Lawrence Central Class of 2005. Tyler has been named the head cross country coach and associate head track and field coach for the Wabash College Little Giants. We will miss Coach McCreary at Lawrence Central, but are excited for him to be coaching at the collegiate level. Congratulations Coach! To read the full press release, click here

Carl Blythe, Lawrence Central Class of 2006.  Carl has been named the principal at Mary Castle Elementary School, effective July 1, 2018. For the past two years, he has served as the Assistant Principal at Mary Castle. We are always excited to see the success of our alumni and are happy when they continue to share their talents in Lawrence Township. Congratulations Principal Blythe!  Click  here  to read more.

Abby Merritt Baker, Lawrence North Class of 2008, and her husband, Joshua Baker, announce the birth of their sweet baby girl on June 3, 2018. Merritt Julia Baker decided to arrive 11 days early, and the entire family couldn't be happier. Congratulations on your beautiful bundle of joy. We love our baby Wildcats.

Kyle Billman, Lawrence Central Class of 2010,  and  Monica Hernandez Billman, Lawrence North Class of 2010,  have been busy! In May 2016, they were married. Then in December of the same year, they opened a gardening supply store named Goldleaf Hydroponics. While they enjoy living as IU alumni in Bloomington, what they are most excited about is the birth of their son, Kai, who joined the family in March. Exciting times! Congratulations.

Samantha Schultz, Lawrence North Class of 2011, is an inspiration to us all. In September 2016, Sam (as her friends call her) suffered a life-threatening brain injury as a result of a mountain biking crash. With her hard work and determination, she has shown us how much one can accomplish. Click here to read the complete IndyStar article about Samantha and her triumph.  #LTpride

Bridget Dotson, Lawrence North Class of 2012,  holds the  title of Miss Collegiate South 2018 and is participating in the Miss Indiana Scholarship pageant which is currently taking place from June 13th - 16th. Bridget's personal platform is, "A Seat At The Table: Empowering Women Through Education." During her year of service, she is dedicated to women empowerment, higher education opportunities for women, and representation of women at all levels, in particular leadership roles. Good luck to Bridget as she competes this weekend to become Miss Indiana.

Our Mission:
Our mission is to bring alumni together, celebrating the past successes of our schools while supporting the future generations of Lawrence Township.

Greetings!

The Class of 2018 has crossed the stage and has joined you as alumni of Lawrence Township. The Lawrence Township School Foundation is so proud of all our alumni and want to stay connected with all of you. Hopefully this eNewsletter helps with that.

In this month's eNewsletter, which is the last of our fiscal year, we are focused on "Racing to the Finish." Check out how some of our alumni are involved in racing and connected to programs that support our students.

Hope you are enjoying your summer,

Executive Director
ALUMNI CONNECTIONS AND  LTSF UP & RUNNING CLUB

The afterschool running program, Up & Running, has been funded by the Lawrence Township School Foundation for 11 years and the impact it is making on LT students is life-changing. Students in grades 4 and up practice 2 times per week and train for a run in both spring and fall. This program helps students learn the importance of a healthy lifestyle. Also, Up & Running allows us to stay connected with our alumni in a variety of ways.

Mike Napariu
Mike Napariu, Lawrence Central Class of 1980, currently serves as the Board President of the Geist Half Marathon. Since the Geist Half Marathon was founded 11 years ago, the organization has been donating a portion of its proceeds to support the health and wellness initiatives of LTSF. To date, the Geist Half has provided over $170,000 of support for our kids. "The thing that you would like to be able to do is always keep the kids coming back," Napariu says. "That's the big part of this, the physical and mental health and wellness community."

Darin Lawrence
Another tie into this year's event are some of the even
t winners. Darin Lawrence,
Lawrence Central Class of 2015,
began running in Brook Park Elementary's Up & Running program and was this year's male winner of the Geist Half.

Will Reid
Will Reid,  Lawrence North Class of 2017,  was this year's winner of the 5K, and he began his running career in the Forest Glen Up & Running p rogram. Both gentlemen are proof that this  program is positively impacting them well beyond their first run.

In the fall, the students participate in the Indianapolis Half Marathon. This event is part of Beyond Monumental. LTSF is entering its third year of partnership with the Monumental Kids Movement. Their focus on the education benefits of exercise, proper diet, and healthy living for our youth aligns with LTSF's Healthy Body Healthy Mind Initiatitve. Since the partnership began, Beyond Monumental has donated more than $20,000 in financial and in-kind donations to benefit the kids.

Liz Vlach Navarre
New to the Beyond Monumental team is
Liz (Vlach) Navarre, Lawrence North Class of 2005. Liz is the Strategic Partnerships Manager for the organization and an avid runner. Liz's days at Lawrence North will always be special to her, not just because of all the lifelong friendships she made, but also because she met her husband, Taylor Navarre, also Lawrence North Class of 2005, during their junior year.

It is always fun seeing our alumni working and being active in our community. Also, remember your participation in these events supports LT students.

Do you know of ways alumni impact our students? Please email Cori Korn so we can include it in an upcoming eNewletter. LTSF appreciates our alumni.
"FORE THE KIDS" GOLF OUTING WAS A SUCCESS!
