Phone scam threatens arrest for not attending jury duty

Clerk Linda Doggett is warning residents about a phone scam instructing victims to pay a fine for missing jury duty or go to jail. The caller identifies himself as a Sheriff's employee and claims a warrant has been issued for the victim. They provide instructions on where and how to purchase a reloadable prepaid card and relay the card number back to the fake deputy.  If you receive a call, gather the information and call the Clerk's office at 533-9153. You may also report the scam to the Sheriff's Office Fraud Line at 258-3292.
