The Scleral Lens Education Society on an International Level
The Scleral Lens Education Society had a powerful  presence at the inaugu ral CLASS ( Contact Lenses of the Americas Specialists Symposium) meeting, held from May 11-12th in Bogota, Columbia.  More than 1,000 attendees from over 20 countries relished at the opportunity to learn from world experts about scleral lenses, including SLS fellows Edgar Davila, Greg  DeNaeyer, Melissa Barnett, Patricia Flores, Tom Arnold, and Maria Walker.  Stay tuned for the increasing international presence of the SLS!

The SLS is continuing to increase international presence, as was evident in early June at the Accademia Italiana Lenti Sclerali (AILeS) meeting in Rome, Italy.  The 2-day event was planned by one of our own, Dr. Daddi Fadel, an active Fellow of the SLS and Italian scleral lens fitter; the focus was on sharing research among scleral experts around the world.  Several SLS Fellows spoke at this widely international meeting: Dr. Don Ezekiel of Australia, Dr. Langis Michaud of Canada, and several US-based speakers including Drs. Greg DeNaeyer, Karen Lee, Jan Bergmanson, Tom Arnold, and Maria Walker.

Stay tuned for the next scleral lens research conference we will be attending in Ft. Lauderdale, FL on July 27th.

Resources for Scleral Lenses

Sclerallens.org  has great information for practitioners and patients alike! Printable information, videos, and brochures are available. New patient information handouts are available on our website:
Also visit the GPLI and I-site websites for valuable scleral lens information.
Membership & Fellowship

Membership allows contact lens fitters access to the practitioner's section of the website that contains scleral lens fitting resources.

One of the most frequent questions we get from members is: "How do I get my name listed in the Fitters section of the website?" To be listed as a Fitter on the website, you must become a Fellow of the SLS.

Optometrists, ophthalmologists, and Fellows of the Contact Lens Society of America (FCLSA) who have proven themselves in the field of scleral lens fitting can apply for status as a Fellow of the Scleral Lens Education Society.
