Summertime and Change
It is always exciting to move into our summer schedule. We gather as one community for worship at 9:30 am on Sundays from Memorial Day Weekend to Labor Day Weekend. Folks from the early service get to sleep in a little and those at the late service get started with their day a little earlier. It is also a change, a change that we anticipate. It is a change that we are able to deal with because we are prepared for it.

FLC Summer Project: School Kits for LWR!
First Lutheran Church's Summer community project will be putting together school kits for Lutheran World Relief. On the last sunday of each month (June 24, July 29 and August 26) we will gather in the Fellowship Hall to sew, cut, gather and pack these kits (brunch will be provided).

If you are someone who is able to help do some work preparing for these Sunday gatherings you can join Lucy Kay Osborne and Audrey Fisher on the first and third Mondays beginning June 4, starting at 9 am and finishing at noon, in the Fellowship Hall. This will be a time to cut, sew and inventory school supplies. If you'd like to sew, please bring a sewing machine.

LWR is specific about what can & cannot be sent in the kits, so please watch for a display in the narthex of what can be purchased. There will also be a list to take with you when you hit the sales and shop for school supplies. We are not accepting monetary donations for this project; we truly just want your time and talent!

Please contact Lucy Kay Osborne at Dlktutti@comcast.net or 425-823-9793 if you have questions.  Or visit LWR School Kits. Thanks for your help!

let us not love with words or speech

Our FLC library committee has two newsworthy items:

Linda Siebert has organized a featured topic for each month from our library’s extensive book collection.  At least four books relating to a “specific topic” including many new books will be on display on the table outside the library with the monthly topic highlighted —ready for you to “ check out”.

Four new books on the June subject of “ Spirituality” are on the table now.
* Hallelujah Anyway by Ann Lamott
* The Spirituality of Wine by Gisela H. Kreglinger
* To the Table: A Spirituality of Food, Farming, and Community by Lisa Graham McMinn
* Grateful by Diana butler Bass

This year you may submit for our photo gallery display and judging:  Show Us Your 2018 Favorite Photo
Several of our photographers commented that limiting their photo shoots to just the summer months was difficult.  In October 2018, you can submit your favorite photo of 2018.  Information on your photo date submission, our yearly gallery showing, judging, and displaying your photo will be included in the July/ August newsletter.  Winning photos will be framed and hung in the library for the year 2019.
Last Chance to Claim Lost and Found Items!

Scrip and Other Passive Fundraising for First Lutheran Church!
We have several opportunities for earning money while you shop for FLC's many social ministry programs:
  1. Buy Scrip on Sunday mornings or sign up for Shop with Scrip. Many vendors are available for instant purchase and redemption from your mobile phone in the Shop with Scrip program. No more writing checks; the money is automatically deducted from your checking account using Presto Pay. (The profit margin for scrip is not great enough to support credit card payments.) Scrip returns anywhere from 3 - 12% of your purchases to FLC! You can buy grocery cards, movie tickets, Amazon, even Groupon - the list is great!
  2. Sign up for Amazon Smile and name First Lutheran Church as your charity. Every time you shop with Amazon Smile FLC receive .05% of your purchase price. You can still use Amazon Prime. Get your kids to sign up, too!
  3. Link your Fred Meyer rewards card to their Community Rewards program for First Lutheran Church. All of your purchases will result in a quarterly donation to FLC.
  4. Sign up for Bartell's B Caring Program, and name First Lutheran Church as your charity.
