City News

Developers Sought for Final Buildings of the
First Street Redevelopment Project
The City of St. Charles is seeking developers to complete the remaining three buildings in the First Street Redevelopment Project. The buildings offer an exciting opportunity to complete a vibrant, mixed-use environment along the south First Street corridor in the heart of downtown St. Charles.
There are three remaining buildings in the project- 6, 7B and 8-located south and west of the corner of First and Illinois streets. Construction of these buildings is anticipated to begin in 2019 and will finish out the project.
The remaining three buildings are envisioned as mixed use with ground floor commercial. Potential upper level uses could include office and/or residential space. The city is seeking creative proposals that will provide a balance of uses among these buildings.
A Request for Proposals has been posted to the City of St. Charles website, at www.stcharlesil.gov/projects/First-Street-RFP. Inquiries can be directed to Rita Tungare, Director of Community and Economic Development, at (630) 377-4443 or rtungare@stcharlesil.gov
. Proposals will be accepted through July 13, 2018.

Featured Board Member of the Month

Mike Algrim
Chamber Board Member
Board Liaison for YPC

Having recently had the honor of joining the Chamber Board, I'd like to mention how excited I am to be able to support the Chamber in this way. Having been a member for a number of years, my involvement has primarily been through the Friday LEADS Group. For those that don't know what the LEADS Group is all about, I'd suggest you learn more! I can honestly say I've made true friends from the group and those friendships have served me well in my professional advancement.
I'd also like to mention several exciting opportunities to get involved with the Chamber in the coming month. On June 20th the Young Professionals Committee (YPC) will be hosting their annual Paddle Boat Mixer, this event always receives tremendous reviews! As the Board Liaison for the YPC, I'd like to challenge our young professional members to get involved. The YPC is recruiting for key positions on the committee to help with our various events. It's a talented group, and a perfect opportunity to support the Chamber while expanding your network.
Lastly, I'd like to express how impressed I have been with our new President, Mr. Jim Di Ciaula. He has reinvigorated the Chamber with many new ideas and, more importantly, is focused on execution. This combination gives me a lot of optimism for the future of the Chamber and its continued impact on the local economy.
