OSHA Changes Record-Keeping Rule, Faces Objection

OSHA Updates Workplace Safety Reporting Requirements
OSHA made alterations to its Improve Tracking of Workplace Injuries and Illnesses final rule and nearly three dozen House Democrats expressed concern with the change. Initially, OSHA required companies in high-hazard industries with 20-249 employees to submit Forms 300, 300A and 301. Then, OSHA changed the final rule to only require Form 300A, which is a yearly summary of injury and illness data, citing predicted issues with reporting due to the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). However, lawmakers believe this rollback excludes critical data that could increase safety and health in the workplace and FOIA would only prevent the release of confidential information, not other useful data. Read about the update on OSHA's site here.
