ALUMNI IN THE NEWS
Continuing the EXCELLENCE
Lawrence North Class of 2006
, continues to make the headlines. He received the NBA Twyman-Stokes Teammate of the Year Award as well as the Sportsmanship Award at the 2019 NBA Awards earlier this week. This was the first time the same person won both awards in the same year, and the third time that Conley has won the Sportsmanship Award, tying Grant Hill for the most times being so recognized. He also won the Sportsmanship Award in 2014 and 2016. Great job, Mike! You continue to make us proud for what you do on and off the court! Click here for video.
Shawnta (Stockton) Barnes,

Lawrence Central Class of 2003, received the Distinguished Service Award in a ceremony on June 5th. This award is the second highest military medal a soldier can receive.
While serving in Afghanistan's Ghazni Province nearly 11 years ago, U.S. Army Sgt. 1st Class Gregory Waters went above and beyond the call of duty. After their armored vehicle struck an improvised explosive device, gunfire rang out overhead and Waters and those around him were injured and knocked unconscious. After he awoke, he provided cover for the rest of his platoon and stabilized the other injured soldiers.
When reinforcements arrived and Waters was offered a lift back to safety, he refused. "I just kept going and kept engaging the enemy," he says. "I just kept doing what I needed to." To see the full article click here. Thank you Sgt. 1st Class Gregory Waters for your courage. You make your Lawrence Township family proud.
Lawrence Central Class of 2016
