June 2019

Greetings!
I am back from my maternity leave and want to thank Diego, Caitlin, Julie-Anne and the rest of the PCAP partnership for keeping things going while I was away. It feels good to be back in the office and I've been spending my time catching up on what I missed in the last year and planning a number of events for Native Prairie Appreciation Week!

June is going to be an incredibly busy month for PCAP! Since 1999, Saskatchewan's Ministry of Agriculture and the Ministry of the Environment have proclaimed the third week in June as Native Prairie Appreciation Week (NPAW) and this year, NPAW takes place from June 16-22, 2019.  Also acknowledging the importance of our native prairie ecosystems are the Cities of Regina, Saskatoon, Moose Jaw, and Weyburn. As we all know, grasslands are the world's most endangered ecosystem. NPAW is an important time to recognize, appreciate and celebrate this valuable resource, and also the producers and land managers who carefully steward the land.

We are also organizing a number of activities to celebrate the 2019 Native Prairie Appreciation Week, including our annual Photo and Poster Contests, booth displays at different Farmers Markets, a webinar presentation and a field tour. Please visit our website for details on all these events! Make sure to also have a look at the Upcoming Events section that is full of interesting, prairie-related events!

This year, PCAP is celebrating our Framework Renewal for 2019-2023. On June 20th, our partners will be meeting in Regina to formally renew their commitment to prairie conservation and PCAP. The renewal process has allowed PCAP and its partners to reflect on the good work that has been completed and shift our focus to areas that continue to need attention.

Finally, we would like to thank the generous support from our sponsors: Crescent Point Energy, SaskPower, SaskEnergy, SaskTel, SaskWater, TransCanada, Mosaic, Enbridge, EcoFriendly Sask, Wildlife Habitat Canada and Environment and Climate Change Canada, as well as the continuous support of all the PCAP's Partners

Please feel free to contact us at any time!

Have a great month!
