Summer greetings from the Center for Irish Music,

Summer has finally arrived and the Minnesota Irish Music Weekend is just twelve days away, from June 13th-16th. Tickets are selling fast for the Master Artists Concert on Saturday, June 15th featuring Pauline Conneely, Randal Bays, Sheila, Anna and Clare Friel, Brian Miller and Christian Stevens. Purchase your tickets online here!

At our eleventh Annual MIM Weekend, we are thrilled to be hosting the largest ever teen program, with students traveling from Baltimore, Chicago and Seattle. Registration for the adult workshop, lecture & interview offerings are a little lower than usual. Please help us spread the word, and be sure to register yourself! Take a look at the selection of lectures, song & instrument workshops, percussive dance classes, interviews and more here...

Summer is the perfect time to try a new instrument, so why not sign up for private lessons or try something new with a summer camp or class? Contact Hannah to sign up!

Finally, keep your eyes open for our upcoming summer fundraising campaign, coming soon, to help the Center for Irish Music end the fiscal year on a strong note. From investments in rental instruments, new programs to build our student base, and initiatives to bring traditional music into the community, we need your support.

I hope to see you this weekend at St. Anthony Park Arts Festival, Grand Old Day at Irish On Grand (we'll be there with Rince na Chroi, Irish Fair and more...), or at the Como Lake Pavillion on Wednesday, June 12th for a performance of the award-winning Advanced Youth Ensemble.

Thank you for being a part of the CIM community,

Norah Rendell
Executive Artistic Director
Center for Irish Music

Calling ALL youth ensemble members and anyone who is interested in being in one some time in the future at the Center for Irish Music! This camp will include sessions, a new tune each day, guided listening, trad youtube videos focussing on two musicians from each county each day and more sessions....! Bring your bag lunch and we'll take a jaunt over to Newell park, weather-permitting around noon each day.
Monday-Friday, July 15-19 | Instructor: Danielle Enblom
$149 before June 1st, $159 after June 1st
Irish music is joyful and full of great rhythm and spirit! Come to the Center for Irish Music for this fun camp to learn songs, play games, listen to music and learn more about the Irish instruments. If you already play an instrument, bring it along each day. We will put together a performance to share with families and friends on Friday at 11:30am.
Thursdays, June 20-August 22 | Instructor: Dáithí Sproule | $96
Dáithí Sproule will select songs from the recorded repertoire of Paddy Tunney (1921-2002), a singer with roots in Donegal and Fermanagh. He was renowned for his wide repertoire and his fine and distinctive style of singing, inspired by his mother Brigid, herself one of the great source singers.
Mondays, June 10-24 | Instructor: Dáithí Sproule | $48
The 60s were an amazing era for growth in Irish music. Dáithí is looking forward to walking down memory lane and playing and teaching some of the music from the time and telling the story of the folk clubs and folk and traditional acts of the era (some now little known or forgotten in America), an era that laid the foundations for everything that has come since.
