Anniversaries

Twenty-Five years ago Susan and I drove out to Lake Stevens to see what the community was like. I was about to interview for a position as an associate pastor. This would be my first call. We both remember driving down Lundeen Parkway surrounded by trees and passing a little gas station across from a park with the same name as the street. We drove up and over the hill and into a quiet little town with a church with a strange name, Ebenezer.

“Show Us Your 2019 Favorite Photo”
Your library committee is sponsoring this popular event for 2019 and experimenting with a new schedule. This year’s photo event will cover the entire year—2019. The photos will be submitted in early January with judging and  “Gallery Display” to celebrate our 134th FLC anniversary in March.
Wherever you are and whatever you do—bring your camera and take a photo to share with our library annual event.

Social Ministry Update
June Outreach
When school is out for the summer, many of the nearly 14,000 children in north and east King County who qualify for free or reduced cost meals during the school year may go hungry. Money deposited in the Change for Change jar in May will go to Hopelink's End Summer Hunger program.

HOPELINK food bank emphasis in June is for replacements for school lunch programs (peanut butter, jelly, fruit cups, cracker & cheese packs, etc.)

June Monthly Outreach: Lutherwood Camp & Retreat Center
The Hopelink truck will be here to collect your food and monetary donations! Free hot dogs, chips and drinks! Fun for the whole family!
Scrip and Other Passive Fundraising for First Lutheran Church!
We have several opportunities for earning money while you shop for FLC's many social ministry programs:
  1. Buy Scrip on Sunday mornings or sign up for Shop with Scrip. Many vendors are available for instant purchase and redemption from your mobile phone in the Shop with Scrip program. No more writing checks; the money is automatically deducted from your checking account using Presto Pay. (The profit margin for scrip is not great enough to support credit card payments.) Scrip returns anywhere from 3 - 12% of your purchases to FLC! You can buy grocery cards, movie tickets, Amazon, even Groupon - the list is great!
  2. Sign up for Amazon Smile and name First Lutheran Church as your charity. Every time you shop with Amazon Smile FLC receive .05% of your purchase price. You can still use Amazon Prime. Get your kids to sign up, too!
  3. Link your Fred Meyer rewards card to their Community Rewards program for First Lutheran Church. All of your purchases will result in a quarterly donation to FLC.
  4. Sign up for Bartell's B Caring Program, and name First Lutheran Church as your charity.
After working together for 60 years, LWR has joined with IMA (Interchurch Medical Assistance). Lucy Kay Osborne will be heading up the school kit project this summer and will need several helpers to sew, collect school supplies and pack the kits for shipment. Please join in the fun! Thank you for all your fabulous support!
Looking Ahead!
